Great back country hike. Left from cathedral Butte trail head and connected up to peekaboo trail. Camped in SC1 and 3 was going to stay in 4 but went on to junction of angel arch trail. And spent late afternoons exploring arch’s and ruins. Fascinating hike filled with mystery and beauty. Than camped at peekaboo and hiked it and lost canyon, the young guns really enjoyed those! I am 65 and did not think it was a bad hike

Rated as moderate on here but I would lean more toward strenuous. Trail head was not the easiest to find and there where an insane amount of foxtails. I would recommend topping off water at a clear stream. Otherwise a great trail with many ancient ruins I'm sure we missed as much as we had seen truly Amazing

Well worth it to drive 18 miles of gravel road to the trailhead on the south. Lots of free dispersed camping on BLM. Steep descent and then blissfully flat following the creek. Lots of prickly pear on both sides of the trail and thick grass suggests pants are needed. Take the side trails to the ruins. I stopped at four sites in fifteen miles including standing in awe of “Superman”. Several good places to filter water along the way. Several signs of black bear.

This is a great hike. Stay at the back country sites and hike about! Many great archeological sites.
