From the gate at Cave Spring, hikers follow Salt Creek Canyon for 2.5 miles before reaching Horse Canyon. Horse Canyon is typically very dry, and the deep sand of the wash bottom makes for slow hiking. A four-wheel-drive road extends up the canyon as far as Fortress Arch, so hikers may see vehicles. There are several arches and numerous side canyons to explore. Access to Paul Bunyan's potty, Tower Ruin, Castle Arch and Fortress Arch

Drove to Castle Arch trailhead, which is about as far as one could drive. Hiked to Castle and Fortress Arches. The main obstacle to driving is deep sand, which is present all along the route. I had no trouble in my 4Runner after airing down, but the ranger told me a Jeep got stuck a couple of days earlier. It was an amazing trip. My only regret was not having more time to explore.

4-wheeled and motorcycled this trail prior to the closer for hiking only. Tried to hike to the All American man but ran out of energy and time. Sure which that I got to see it. Angel arch is amazing

Back in March, backpacked down to campsite SC3. Freakin rough trip, but extremely worth it. Four Faces pictograph is down there, as well as other pictographs that are category 2. Can't wait to go back, but maybe at a later time because there was ice in the tent when we woke up.
