Great hike!! The trail can be hard to locate from time to time, especially on the descent. Trust the cairns! They pointed the right way for us. Good traction and ankle support are a must on this one, too. Had the trail to ourselves and views are excellent top and bottom.
We loved our hike here! It started off with the most incredible views on top of the canyon that we slowly adventured our way down into. It felt like we were on another planet once we started snaking through all the caverns. It definitely got monotonous near the end, as you’re walking through thick sand most of the time. It ends up at a small tributary off of Lake Powell. We definitely relied on the AllTrails map the whole time, as you could spend hours down there on various intersecting trails. Overall so glad we did it, as it was a nice change to see no other people the whole time on a hike! Also, the parking was a little iffy, as we just pulled to the side of the dirt road and had to search quite a bit for the start of the trail (behind the large rock on the right!!).
trail is great, pay attention to markers. may need to slide down some sandstone.
Not sure why more people are not using this trail. Yes it is wide open to the sun. But what a treat. Gave us everything. Some climbing up and down. Some scale rock slopes. Mostly it is walking in sandy/loose dirt. But the variation in what you see over the 5 mile up and back is well worth it. It was really a visual spectacle. More people need to experience this one. Just take water!!
Resurrection canyon is not the original name, I made this name up. I can’t reveal the real name but I posted a picture. You figure it out. 25 years ago I had a lost cow that I followed and it got me into this canyon with my horse. I always thought this is a beautiful canyon with its arches, peek holes and rock formations and colors. It should be kept semi secret and pristine. Please keep this canyon it’s natural way. This canyon means a lot to me and my friends.
Great trail no one on the route. Hard to follow sometimes and didn't open up to water. Park on side of road
Great trail once you find the starting point. Have to cross a muddy flat section to get there, but if you follow the trail on all trails, you can find it no problem. You basically end up walking through the wash all the way to the river. Beautiful scenery the whole way. Could be pretty muddy/sandy after any wet weather.
