Great short hike to get you out of the house! It’s the last hike before the road ends. Beautiful views!!

Winter roads are still closed so I ended up here today since it’s right before the gate. Beautiful trail, pretty steady uphill climb, but was really nice. Not a wide trail, but I didn’t pass too many people this afternoon anyway. It’s currently closed to horses and bikes, which was nice. Trail has 3 small stream crossings, perfect for my dog to splash and drink in. Went from trailhead to meadow with the junction for Salamander Flats. Meadow was soggy and muddy, and the trail beyond was much the same. Up until that point, trail had been otherwise dry except the small streams. I’d like to explore more in a few more weeks when the snow goes away. There was no one at the fee booth today, but they have a box for the trail fee ($6) at the trailhead so bring cash.

It’s got pretty parts to the trail and it’s great for dogs with the various creek crossings. Still plenty of snow once you get to Salamander Flats

Great winter hike. Just bring snowshoes or spikes and you’ll be fine. Awesome views of Timp and surrounding mountains. Would do again.

Steep and steady uphill climb for about the first 2 miles through the forest. Majority of the hike is shaded beautifully. Today was perfect weather. Mid 70’s and cloud coverage. There were 7 very courteous dirt bikers on the trail, and two horseback riders. All in all, a pretty dang peaceful and quiet hike. This is Probably my favorite hike so far! Absolutely breathtaking views all around. Beautiful and majestic mountains, aspen groves, lush, green meadows, wildflowers and butterflies galore. Comparable to views of Switzerland in the mountains. Can’t wait to do this one again and add more of the surrounding trails to it.

Great snow/fat biking up American Fork Canyon on closed SR-92 (Alpine Loop) from Pine Hollow parking lot up canyon 2.5 miles and a picturesque downhill. I stayed on snow packed road, except for a short detour through Timpooneke Campground area, due to avalanche conditions. 5 mile out-n-back.
