Moderately easy hike that is fairly short and meanders up along the gas pipeline trail and then through a beautiful stand of evergreens. The trail connects to the Maple Dell BSA camp parking lot on the north end of the trail. Park at the natural gas pipeline substation gravel parking area then go through the gate. (Don't park in front of corral loading chutes as these are active cattle corrals). Follow the trail about 150' past the gate, then turn left into scrub oak and maple trees. Follow trail through these trees as it meanders up hill and eventually merges back with the gas pipeline clearing, and then turns left into pine forest. You can also follow the gas pipeline clearing/trail straight up the mountain instead of going through the maples/oaks, but it's not as scenic. Pine forest is on US Forest Service land but closer to Maple Dell it's private BSA owned land - but they appear to let hikers/bikers regularly use the trail connection.

A bit of a challenge uphill in snowshoes, but someone had groomed the trail which helped. The Pine Forest is beautiful. I just hope the trail builders are able to work with the Forest Service and BSA to get this designated because currently it is an illegal trail.

nice hike

Good evening hike. Trail still a bit rocky in spots where washed out from storms. Still a great moderately easy trail. Fall maples are beautiful.

Recent thunderstorms have washed out some of the top soil on the trail leaving very rocky/cobbled sections in the lower 1/3 of the trail. A few sections of washouts in the forest, but not as bad.

Hiked up to pine forest and also explored Lovers Lane trail and other Mtn bike trail loop on east side of Nebo Loop road. Microspikes were helpful in a few icy spots.

This is a great trail that is family/kid friendly. Not too long and moderately easy hike. Beautiful stand of evergreens that survived through the Bald Mountain fires without much damage. Trail is more heavily used during summer scout camp season due to nearby Maple Dell BSA camp. Good all year for hiking, horseback, and snow shoeing. Some decent views of some surrounding mountains but the wonderful evergreen forest is really what makes this trail rank so high.

Great winter snow hiking that's easily accessible, not too long and good exercise. Hiked Dec. 1, 2018; Dec. 28, 2018; Jan. 19, 2019; and Jan. 20, 2019. Trail is moderately used in winter so it's usually packed down from fat tire mountain bikers or other hikers. This makes it ok with just boots; but better with micro spikes if available. Snow shoes pretty much needed if going off-trail. Snow off trail was about knee deep in Jan 2019.
