Zion National Park charges a fee to enter. Fees are $35 per vehicle or $30 per motorcycle. If you are entering on foot, horse, or bike the fee is $20 per person. You can also purchase a park specific annual pass for $70. If you wonder how long those bighorn sheep have been in Zion, you need to see this petroglyph panel. The canyon beyond is a great hike typical of the East Zion canyons. The Park does not like to advertise these petroglyphs, so please be respectful. From the parking area (look for the "no bus parking" sign), look north; just into the canyon there is a sheer cliff. The petroglyphs are at its base. Head north, either along the road or down and under the impressive stone culvert. The petroglyphs are not visible from the wash bottom so watch for the trail cutting over to them. Beyond the petroglyphs, climb the slickrock to the right to continue up the canyon. There is a significant dryfall that is difficult to climb but easy to bypass to the right. Above this is the slot canyon. One dryfall has a convenient staircase next to it, but the next one usually has a pool and most people stop here. It can be bypassed by a ledge on the left side, but does not continue far beyond that.

I think we went on the wrong trail due to the heavy snow but it was still a good hike. We saw big horned sheep.

This trail was relatively easy but confusing to navigate. Some steep hills on the way to the spot canyons. A little slippery at times due to sand. We almost missed the petroglyphs and only found it on our way back. It’s along the wall before the first steep uphill slick rock area. The slot canyon was cool. Not the most picturesque but you can walk a good distance in and feel fulfilled.

Cute little trail! Make sure you get on the right path after you park, you want to cross the highway under the tunnel. Its a sharp right from the parking lot. The petroglyphs will be past the tunnel under the rock wall with holes, you should be able to see signs. If you want to ask any questions or want to see my adventures, @marilaurar

Amazing trail! The pools, the glyphs, and the slot canyon were each spectacular, and even better all on one trip! This app was also super helpful to keep us on track bc the path is not well marked (only negative about this trail)

Fun walk! If you like these petroglyphs follow me on Instagram @naturenatephotography for photos and to find more places to find them in the southwest. I study them!

This was a great easy hike that everyone should do! Check out the petroglyphs first (some people I passed didn't seem to know about them as they were walking in the drainage) and then continue up. When you hit the cairn it seems easier to go up right to then arrive at the mouth of the slot canyon, although I went down in the drainage and you could easily stay in the drainage on the way up and then climb up to the slot. In the slot, you can climb up several sections to see further into it. The first obstacle is easily bypassed on the right either in the "crack" against the far right wall, or just climbing up the slickrock (be wary it's sandy and slippery). The second obstacle you can use the ledge on the left above but it's also sandy and this won't be for everyone. I stopped here but for the adventurous you may be able to continue further!

we had horrible service so were not able to open expanded descriptions or the map. we made a guess and it was incorrect on the trail based on footprints. that being said it was amazing. We went down to the creek (currently dry with snow) and hiked to the left up the creek bed. There were no petroglyphs, but there was a beautiful little slot canyon with a few sections that sounds easier to get to than the one here.

I made the mistake of not reviewing/downloading the map/directions before driving to the trailhead. I had no reception and couldn’t find any indications of where the actual trail was. In hindsight it looks like I was on the right path when I went through the culvert under the road, but I have to say, of al the directions (many) this one looked the least promising. I’m bummed I didn’t get to see the petroglyphs, but the scenery was still lovely.

The pools were decent and my friend really enjoyed the petroglyphs. Followed the path exactly and couldn’t find the slot canyon although I feel like I know where it would have been given water flow if I had put a bit more effort in.

The petroglyphs were only ok. They are on the wall to the left between the road and where you head up to the right. Look down the first "small" path you come to, and there will be a metal box at the end of it by the rock wall. Follow the trail to the right along the rock wall. We really loved exploring the area after the petroglyphs to the end of the canyon. Noone else was there. We didn't find the slot canyon.

Fun and easy hike. Lots of wonderful petroglyphs. Because they are so easy to get to, I hope they don't get defaced. Would recommend going during the late fall.

Super sick. Very steep for the second half, but the petroglyphs are incredible. Makes you think the whole rest of the hike about what Zion looked like 7,000 years ago. If you explore the trails to the left once you go through the tunnel, youll find the petroglyphs

It’s really neat to see the petroglyphs and the slot canyon. You can walk into the slot canyon for a little distance. Look for the side trail to the left to see the petroglyphs but it’s real close to the main trail. I took off 1 star because if you don’t have a map or downloaded GPX or similar, you may not be able to find the slot canyon or the petroglyphs.

Cool to see some petroglyphs in Zion. Short easy hike to see them. From the main trail you have to follow one of the random trails that leads to the cliff base. Easy to overlook, if not specifically looking for them. After that, follow the main trail to where the rockfall starts, then scramble up the steep loose sand trail to the right until you reach the canyon above. Not really a slot canyon, but still worth the hike. Gorgeous scenery, and fairly deserted.
