Short downhill hike near the Arches National Park Entrance with spectacular views of red rock fins and towers. Arches offers a landscape of contrasting colors, landforms and textures unlike any other in the world. The park has over 2,000 natural stone arches, in addition to hundreds of soaring pinnacles, massive fins and giant balanced rocks. This red rock wonderland will amaze you with its formations, refresh you with its trails, and inspire you with its sunsets. From Park Avenue parking area, the trail descends steeply into a spectacular canyon and continues down the wash to Courthouse Towers. If you have a shuttle driver, you can begin at one point and be picked up at the other. For round-trip hiking, retrace your steps along the trail rather than walk along the park road.

Don't just drive by this one. Hike it out and back and you'll be glad you did

We arrived mid day and wanted to take an easier hike to stretch our legs. We enjoyed it a lot. If you’re looking for something thrilling, this is not it. However, it’s a nice way to Star or end a day or hiking.

In my opinion this is the most underrated trail in arches. So beautiful and fun to do. Do it early in the morning for best lighting,

Nice to take short walk to the bottom and be able to look up at the formations

You can start this at either end. The start near courthouse Tower would avoid a bunch of rock steps at the other end. My wife and I started at the end with the steps (all down) and I had her continue towards Courthouse Towers and I doubled back up the steps and drove the car back to pick her up. Awesome short walk down in the valley between the two massive red rock cliffs. Very dusty and warm, even in late April. Again a nice walk first thing to lumber up or at day’s end to wind down.

Nice hike down into the canyon. The surrounding walls are awesome... The hike back gives you the elevation gain, which is the workout.

Beautiful, best part of Moab in my opinion. Not difficult at all. Downhill going there, but mostly uphill on the way back turning into a decent workout.

Great trail. Hiking down the wash you can really see the swirls in the rock. It is just about all downhill South to North, with trailheads at both ends providing the opportunity to hike one way if someone picks you up at the other end.

Great short trail. Would consider this trail to be easy not moderate but the views are worth it. Walking through the trail is spectacular.

Nice views that feel unique in arches national park. Easy hike not the crowds of other trails.

Beautiful trail that meanders down a flat, dry streambed. Excellent views of fins and balancing rocks. If you watch the rock under your feet you’ll see great examples of deformation in the rock. Very quiet and serene. Exact trail easy to lose at one or two places- you’ll never get lost but if you are trying to be a good steward of the dessert you’ll spend some time searching for cairns that are knocked over.

Easy trail and well marked. The views are great but it is hard to compete - Arches has much better trails and views. That said, this would be easy for children and families. And it is very short - 2 miles return! We hiked it during the government shutdown so there was a lot of ice on the steps, but it was manageable!

This is a lovely easy to moderate trail when you first enter Arches. We hiked it around 10 am when there was still plenty of shade from the canyon and met few people on the trail. It rained in the last week and our kids loved playing in the water left in little sandstone pools.

Keep going to (almost) the end to make sure to catch Sheep Rock and then check out the sign at the viewpoint, some cool info!
