Really muddy, horse poop, and bison poop! It’s super easy, flat, cold cold cold, and windy. However, it’s a great trail for kids or beginners. Took my kids and they loved it. Great trail for winter running training. If it weren’t so muddy, it be awesome, very hard to trudge through the mud running. I had speed cross Salomon trail runners and they did ok.

Totally enjoyed this trail - great for beginners, it’s relatively flat and rock free. Beware of Bison on the trail ! They may chase you... even more so - beware of thorny stickers. We had three flats. But had a super cool adventure !

I completed this trail on 09/21/2019. The trail itself is rather easy, more useful as a conditioning ride as there is nothing technical or steep. The only downside is that there is often tall vegetation directly next to the single track whipping you in the hands and knees as you ride by. It's a neat little local gem overall, kind of a mini game reserve with bison.

Some parts were overgrown (tall, itchy grass) so wear pants. We were looking to photograph the bison, which, happened to be a couple of miles from the trailhead. Keep an eye out for lone bison (one came out of nowhere and ran alongside us and stood in our path--we backed away slowly). Otherwise, super easy despite the heat so you might want to start early if you choose this trail. Offers amazing views across the lake, as well as other wildlife and wildflowers throughout.

This is an okay trail. It's a ways out and you need to pay a $10 fee to enter the island. The trail says dog friendly, but it's an on leash only. Which I personally don't like. There isn't any shade and I was only able to go about a half mile because there were some buffalo napping on the trail. Not the best overall, but offered a great change in scenery.

It is a sandy trail that takes you around the East side Beach area and around some of the foothills. The Buffalo use this trail a lot so watch you footing. If you are into Geocaching there are several along this trail.
