Tips

An easy stroll in Bryce next to a creek that brings you past hoodoos, to a waterfall, and then to a mossy cave where icicles hang in the shady places. If you feel adventurous, climb to the hole in the wall above the falls. Mossy Cave is the trail you want to go to if you have a very short time and want to do a little hike. Or, if you have guests or kids that do not like to break a sweat on a hike, this is a perfect little stroll where you can get the whole below canyon experience without the hike down into the canyon.

This is a short and easy hike. You can bring nothing at all and be fine. Bring some water and a snack though. And apply some sunscreen as you are high in altitude and the sun's rays are strong.

Good short hike for all levels and ages, there are some potential slick spots, and the waterfalls area is amazing to see but younger kids would need supervision.

Mossy cave is really a small overhang - not a cave, and to be clear, the waterfall, while lovely, is an irrigation ditch. This is a quick stop to peek at a couple of hoodoos and stretch your legs. Family friendly.

We loved it! My 6 & 8 yr olds did great! I highly suggest wearing or bringing water shoes. I would wear a swimsuit as your outfit. I wore Nike swim shorts & a swim tank top. I ended up going in the water with my shoes & socks. I tried barefoot & it hurt terribly. We went down at the waterfall & walked all the way back through the stream. We’ll definitely be back!

7.20.20 | Perfect short hike to a cool waterfall! This day got pretty warm (85°) and we were able to get our feet in the water and stand near the fall. Also went off trail at the beginning of the hike to the river and put my feet in the water and walked upstream! Got some cool shots from my camera.

Trail was easy enough I did it in cans. Quick hike to the waterfall. Signs say closed for off main trail access but no one listened. Water wasn’t cold so it was super nice. Super easy for kids considering a group of 15-20 and their parents came in after me and started making lots of noise. Only reason it didn’t get 5 stars

This was our favorite trail with the family. We swam in the river at the start, hiked up to the cave, and then went down to the waterfall.

Great trail - especially once you go beyond the main waterfall and get past the crowds. We hiked about 10 minutes past the main waterfall and had a nice secluded spot to ourselves. We did see other groups pass by every so often, but only about 4 groups in the 2 hours we were there. Oh and the views are great on the hike in!

I would recommend this trail for all levels of experience. It provides many shady areas and spectacular views of the various waterfalls, with the main last. Icy cool, sparkling clear water. Kids ages 12 & 11 traveled easily.

The creek is about 6” deep and swift enough to pull a child down but perfectly cool and provides a good relief from the hot sun. The waterfall is amazing. Side note, one cannot explore the Mossy Cave unless you’re okay breaking the rule to not pass.

This was a easy trail along a creek with a beautiful waterfall, cave, and arch all within a very short distance. In fact, the waterfall and arch are probably 100 feet apart. I arrived at first light and there were already people taking photos at the waterfall. When they left I had it to myself for about 10 min. The waterfall area is really chromatic - red, orange, white, and the plunge pool was a shade of green. It was great! The cave was just ok but interesting to see how it provides a source of water for the creek below.

Short hike, but you can make it longer by continuing up stream after the main fall and there are 6 to 7 smaller falls as you hike up stream. Beautiful hike up stream.
