An easy walk out to an arch perched right on a cliff edge. A great sunrise hike in Canyonlands National Park with great views. The Island in the Sky mesa rests on sheer sandstone cliffs over 1,000 feet above the surrounding terrain. Every overlook offers a different perspective on Canyonlands' spectacular landscape. The Island is the easiest district to visit in a short period of time, offering many pullouts with spectacular views along the paved scenic drive. Hiking trails and four-wheel-drive roads access backcountry areas for day or overnight trips. Mesa Arch Trail is easy and offers great views from the arch perched right on a cliff edge. A great sunrise hike. Start: Mesa Arch parking area Time: 30 minutes

Easy and short trail to an iconic viewpoint. Wasn’t too busy so we really enjoyed it. Definitely the most popular trail in the park so try to go early.

Woke up to see sunrise here and it was amazing!!!

Great views. A bit crowded at sunrise, but it cleared out for some beautiful shots.

Mesa Arch offers incredible views, spend 5-10 minutes meditating there away from the clicking pictures. Tranquility .

For the short and easy nature of this hike, it is a must do. We encountered a relatively small number of other people on a Thursday afternoon in October. I thought I didn’t really need to see another arch after doing Arches Nat’l Park, but the canyon and red cliffs framed by Mesa Arch really set it apart.

Short and sweet. Great view over the side of the Canyon wall. A bit too crowded to enjoy.

Amazing sunrise spot. Very popular but worth it to get there early. Have your camera ready.

We arrived just after sunrise and that was just the right timing! We’ve read that you should be there between sunrise and an hour or so to avoid people and see the sun come through the arch. And it was just that! Great experience!

Good for sunrise

Easy gradual incline to a great payoff. Bests viewed in the morning— even at 10am when we went, the sun through the arch causes it to glow and look spectacular.

Incredible views at sunrise

Terrific view but this is not really a hike. The arch itself is worth a stop but it is a highly accessible one so attracts many visitors.

Short, easy trail with beautiful view of the arch and canyon. It can get a bit crowded as everyone jockeys for that perfect shot.

Short, easy, and beautiful.

Beautiful at sunrise but lots of people setting up their tripods in front of the arch so it’s hard to get a good pic without other people in it. But truly gorgeous.

Nice views but completely overrun, even at sunrise. Good luck getting a photo without strangers in it.

Trail itself is nothing to get excited about. Yes, the arch is beautiful with great views of the canyon. The main reason for the low rating is the massive amount of people all trying to jockey into position to get the perfect photo. Very touristy and parking was a bit if a problem, even around 11am on a Tuesday in September.

Quick hike to a pretty lookout! Took us 15 minutes round trip. Ate lunch at the top to start our day of hiking.

This is a short and easy little guy, but the payoff at the end is amazing! The view through the arch is one of the coolest things I have ever seen, and I've been to Akron.

Fairly easy trail with a beautiful arch at the end. I didn’t make it for sunrise but was there around 8:30 am in September. Very few people at the arch, so I was able to get great shots as though I were alone. When I drove by later in the day, it was packed.

fun little trail with a cool arch at the end. If you hit it at sunrise the sun will shine through the arch which is pretty cool.

Very crowded so hard to get a good photo of the arch. Try going super early if you want a quieter experience. Short and easy hike to the arch. Completed in May 2019.

This was an easy and quick hike with a beautiful reward in the middle of the loop. Mesa arch is breathtaking. There were a few groups while we were there so people formed a line for photos. Make sure you wear sunscreen. There is barely any shade on this hike in the summer and it is hot. The trail is well marked with a path and Cairns on the slab. Make sure to stay on the path so that you don't disturb the protective layer of biogical soul in these areas.
