McConkie Ranch Petroglyph Trail is a 0.8 mile lightly trafficked out and back trail located near Vernal, Utah that features beautiful wild flowers and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, and nature trips and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.

September 15, 2020This is fun hike, and made my 5 year old and 2 year feel challenged and accomplished. They had a lot of fun climbing over all the rocks on this trail. the petroglyphs are very neat as well.

June 22, 2020Great trail with amazing petroglyphs! If you're carrying a baby in a pack or just want an easier way up, take the "exit" fork to the left. The standard beginning of the trail (to the right) has big rocks to scramble. Some of the art is very faded, so look closely. Go in the morning or evening, as mid-day would have been soooo hot! Just down the road from the ranch is the trail for 3 Kings Panel, which is full sun but flat. Take binoculars for 3 Kings :)
June 16, 2020Considering the trail as “easy” is an overstatement; I would rate it as moderate. I went to the right of the trail. The path starts out rocky, there’s a bit of a scrambled and it’s pretty steep. I recommend wearing some decent shoes for the decline. I got there around 3pm (bad idea), and it was scorching hot. I would recommend if you go during the summer months to go early since there’s no shade. After about .5 miles, I couldn’t bare the sun anymore and the petroglyphs were just of smiling faces ...I left. I would love to come back during the fall to see the rest of the trail.
June 13, 2020This was a really fun quick trail. There are a lot of petroglyphs that are very close to the trail. There’s a large variety and they can be seen throughout the entire trail. Some areas of the trail do require that you pull yourself up rocks, but it’s by no means a scramble. It may just take a bit more maneuvering depending on your skill and fitness level.
May 30, 2020This is a must if you're in the area. The petroglyphs are fantastic. Take your time and really look at their stories. Really cool. Definitely not a hard hike - just bring water. And donate to the owners! This is their own property and they let all of us strangers in. (End of August 2019)
May 23, 2020Took my little with me she really enjoyed it, glad there was shade along the way so we could stop & give her a brake! There is a small fee inside the small building when entering, and you can follow the trails with the tape, there is rocks u have to climb so if ur bringing a dog I wouldn’t, there was quite a few people also along the trail with their little ones!
May 22, 2020We had a good time on this trail. We took our 1 yr old (he rode in kid pack) and 5 yr old. They did good! Beware this trail has rocks and some areas require a scramble. The trail is clearly marked.
May 16, 2020Nice hike. The thing that I loved in addition to the hike was the drive there. It reminded me a little of Moab. There were homes along the bases of the cliffs. Such a beautiful area.

April 1, 2020Love this trail! It is such a fun place for a short and relatively easy hike. So many petroglyphs to look at in close proximity to each other make this an entertaining hike. There are a couple of impressive panels as well. There's a small bit of rock scrambling but nothing to crazy. Trail is pet friendly but leashes are required. This trail is on private property but the owners are kind enough to let us enjoy it. Let's keep it that way! Be respectful and remember to leave no trace. A small donation of $5 is asked to be left per vehicle.
