The dirt road to get to the trailhead is a rough 5 miles. The trail itself becomes little more than an overgrown game trail for the last 3/4 of a mile. That being said, the views of Utah Valley, American Fork Canyon and beyond (great back view of the twin peaks), and the front, usually unseen side, of Timp, make this fun to do at least once. My 4 year old and 2 year old only had problems with the wildflowers and other plants that lined the trail that we brushing their arms, legs, and faces - since they were shorter than the plants.
