The Lower Emerald Pools Trail is under construction this summer but the upper pool trail is open. However, it is still a beautiful hike with gorgeous red rock views and a beautiful pool at the finish to splash around in.

Big bang for your buck: this is a quick, easy trail that rewards you with a waterfall at the end (midpoint really since it's out and back).

The description of this trail is inaccurate. As of today (1/15/20) the upper pools are open ONLY via the Kayenta Trail and the lower ones are closed due to a landslide. Upper pools are still worth visiting though!

Pretty underwhelming. We went in July, upper emerald pools were closed so we went to lower and weren’t super impressed. Would be a nice little trail with kids though.

I did not finish the trail. The trail was half coated in snow and ice. Some parts of the trail get sun, so when the sun melts the snow, when the shade comes, it will freeze that same spot. While there aren't any tall hills on this trail, since there are a few steep parts, mixed with the ice and slush, microspikes would be helpful. I did not finish the trail. There were several people who fell on the trail on this day and were taken to the hospital.

Paved most of the way, accessible to all skill levels. Busy when we went on a Friday. The walk and views were underwhelming compared to other places in this park, but I suppose this is for people who are unable to walk very much.

the water fall was beautiful, didn't get to the top half due to falling rock but glad I got to see a portion of the pools!

Easy trail. Due to rock slide you have to turn around at pool but still a nice hike. Very crowded

I would avoid this. It's a short trek, but the end is not worth it. The Emerald pool, is just a muddy pool next to the cliff. Maybe only do it if you have time to kill.

Just a horrible mess of people on a trail without much reward. The emerald pools were a muddy swamp. The only thing to earn this any stars was being able to walk under the trickling falls which made for a cool photo.

Short crowded paved hike. Some water running for a small waterfall. Good for families. **The connector to Upper Emerald Pool is still washed out from rockfall so it’s a short out & back.

Pretty views, very crowded. It was a Friday afternoon in October. My husband and I took our 4&7 year old girls. They loved it, but the drop offs on the somewhat narrow trail made me very nervous. We ended up holding our little one most of the way because it was so crowded and because of the drops. We could feel the mist from the water coming down at the end, we would have gone under it if it wasn’t such a cold day. It was so beautiful. We enjoyed seeing so many deer across the river. You get off the shuttle at the stop at the Lodge, then cross the river and the trail goes along the river basically the whole way. We ate dinner at the lodge upstairs afterwards which had gorgeous view that included about 18 feet outside. Such a great 1st day in Zion!

I would call this a parade of families with small children, senior citizens, and out of shape people taking forever to walk the short trail. With the upper trail closed it’s very disappointing. We went around noon today and encountered tons of people blocking the trail to take photos and selfie’s. So if this sounds like what you’re looking for you, will probably enjoy it. However, I wouldn’t consider it a nice hike and the trickle of water and muddy pool at the bottom were underwhelming. And PEOPLE, when you hike in a group you don’t need to walk 3 abreast on a busy trail and assume hikers walking from the opposite direction will jump off the path to make room for you. Please be more aware of your surroundings. We have hiked all over the Eastern half of the US and have never encountered behavior like this. Maybe it’s the altitude here???? My left shoulder probably has a bruise on it from all the people who rammed into me today!!! Haha

I would consider this hike a little harder than "Easy" and a little less strenuous than "Moderate". Lots of ups and downs but a very pretty walk. Watch out, slippery when wet!

Water was a trickle and more of a muddy pond than an emerald pool. Not an end of season hike.
