Short SUV drive through gorgeous canyon Outstanding views from top to bottom. A great shortcut when returning to Moab from Dead Horse Point State Park or Canyonlands National Park. Open all year weather permitting. Best time to go: Spring and Fall. Located on BLM land. For current status call Bureau of Land Management, Moab Field Office at (435) 259-2100. Rating: Easy. A wide gravel road except through Pucker Pass where it is narrow and steep. Except when damaged by heavy rain, this road is suitable for stock 4-wheel-drive vehicles.

Took this one top to bottom to get some evening fresh air. The road seems repaired - but I'm in a TJ with a lift and 32's so maybe I didn't notice the issue. But there was a tractor at the bottom of the road so likely it's been fixed up. Beautiful nighttime drive!

We attempted bottom to top on Long Canyon Road on 18 June 2017 in our rental 4WD (not very high clearance). We made it just past the rock overhang below Pucker Pass, but the road had been washed out quite a bit under the rock and into the pass and had to turn around. There was about a 1.5' to 2' drop-off in Pucker Pass going up the washed out section. Verify that the road has been fixed before trying. Video of our trip is here:

On April 30, 2017, going up was as torn up as I've ever seen it from the hanging rock tunnel up thru pucker pass. Only high clearance 4x4 and possibly locker at this time. Very deep rutting and rocks for an off camber ride. Bad weather and EJS has taken a toll on this usually tame road.
