Hiking

Hiked to the mine. The first 1.8 miles are on an OHV road. Great views. Didn’t see anyone and we were here on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend.

This is only a hike on a trail until the mine. After that it is all scramble and steep rocky terrain. I did not want to scramble up the second canyon and instead went up to a saddle to the left which has a view to the East.

If you want isolation, this is it. Trail is a little tricky half way up to follow. Loose, very crumbly rock most of the way so watching your step is crucial around edges (cause you will probably be the only one up there). Overall some very nice views of Pilot Peak to the West and Salt Flats to the South. Bring lots of water and sunscreen this time of year as there is no shade.

One of my favorite hikes to date. As others have already stated, it is a rocky trail, with many loose rocks as you gain grade, so I would not recommend bringing children along for this hike. Gradual grade which still gets your heart rate going, but doesn’t feel exhausting. The views are magic!

Hiking

This was a nice trail for social distancing. I didn't see anyone the entire time I was hiking it. It's a scramble once you get above the mines but a nice view at the top.

Great trail until you get past the mines, then its more of a scramble. Amazing views, some flowers were blooming, and only a few other cars seen. Worth it.

Easy hike until you get to the steeper parts. Rick scrambling, some climbing and A LOT of loose rock up high. Super sketchy footing! However, the views are amazing and there is no one out there to share a spare Covid-19 particle.

The direction to the trail were spot on! When Google Maps tells you your destination is on the left, stop your car and look... you won't see a trailhead, but you will faintly see tire tracks leading up the hill. the tire tracks will lead you roughly halfway up and at a very comfortable grade up. once the tracks end, it's time to scramble up the rest of the mountain. I went a part of the way up but turned around. This is an incredibly desolate and beautiful hike. I didn't hear or see a living thing.

Great scramble hike. Tried to catch the sunset but missed it.
