The Lame Horse trail is an easy, out and back trail that connects the Summit trail head to the Aspen Grove area. It travels through large stands of aspen trees and ferns. The trail parallels the Alpine Loop road as it leaves the Summit trail head, and works its way down hill to the Aspen Grove area. It provides excellent views in to the Primrose Cirque. Trail grades range from 5 to 20 percent.

Great trail. Be aware that, in addition to mountain bikes and horses on this trail, motorized dirt bikes are also allowed, but are to yield to all. BH

Hiked the trail on snowshoes to the end of the trail and had enough time to take the Horse Flat Primrose Overlook and Horse Creek Trail to make a nice Loop. Outstanding views from primrose Overlook
