Started at the new Bloods Lake Trail-head and made a big loop out of it. I hiked to Bloods Lake, then to Silver Lake, Silver Lake Islet and Lake Brimhall. Then back to Bloods Lake and from there to Lake Lackawaxen. The final leg was up up to Peak 10420 to Guardsman's Pass, back to Bloods Lake via the old trail and then back to the start. This trek was about 11 miles and 2,500 ft of elevation gain. Heading up from Guardsman's Pass to Peak 10420 is pretty steep and then you drop down into the Lake Lackawaxen. The views from the peak are spectacular! The new Bloods Lake trail is very nice, scenic and easy to follow. The trail from Bloods Lake to Lackawaxen is also easy to follow, with a couple of steep sections. The fall colors are coming on and should be very nice in a couple of days.
