Access to portions of the Kolob Canyons District of Zion National Park will be restricted due to a construction project beginning May 1, 2018. The project involves reconstructing sections of the road, repaving the entire road, and adding accessible parking, sidewalk, and toilet facilities. All of Kolob Canyons Road, the Visitor Center, and parking lot off of Interstate 15, will be closed to all traffic during the seven month project. The Taylor Creek Trail, the Timber Creek Overlook Trail, Lee Pass Trailhead and other areas served via the Kolob Canyons Road will not be available to the public. Overnight permitted hikes will be drop off / pick up only, from April 15 through April 30, 2018. No vehicles or hiking will be permitted inside the closure beginning May 1, 2018. Construction engineers and Park officials have determined that closing these areas during the project will be safest for visitors and workers, as well as expediting the work, so the area may open at the soonest possible date. Visitors will be able to access the La Verkin Creek Trail and hike to the Kolob Arch via the Hop Valley Trail. Visitors may access the Hop Valley Trailhead from the Kolob Terrace Road. Overnight trips require a permit. There are many surrounding State Parks, Forest Service and public land scenic areas to consider as alternatives to Kolob Canyons during this closure. Please check park website or call park for most up to date information.

This trail goes out to campsites for backpackers. Follows a creek into the Kolob Canyons. Went about 1.5 miles in and then returned as a storm was approaching. First 1.5 miles in was downhill....the return was upwards!

we hiked first week in april, wanted to get away from the crowds in other parts of Zion. mostly backpackers on the trail but still a good day hike. there were a lot of water crossings along the way. downhill most of the way in means uphill on the way back!

Trail is easy to follow. If you're going this far, you may as well go all the way to the Arch.

I love Kolob Canyon. It's great because there are way less people than Zion. We just hiked to the trailhead for the arch and hiked back, which was a very long day hike. On this hike I saw 2 diamondbacks and a tarantula. You cross a spring at some point, which was great, and it was ice cold, so I soaked my shirt to keep cool for part of the hike. I recommend this. (I hiked in august)

We started the Trans Zion Trek here about 430 the 26th of May and were able to get to campsite 5 by 730 that night. Saw a wild Turkey, lizards and beetles. The stream there is beautiful- you can hear at it site 5. Very pleasant hike for day 1!

Good trails with lots of great scenery that make the entire hike enjoyable. Stopped at Kolob Arch and hike up to the point that the canyon narrows.

Wonderful!!! Absolute beautiful scenery. We were at camp site 9 which isn't to bad to get to however keep in mind the last stretch out. It was 97 degrees out which made it a little tuff but all in all great time

Nice hike to campsite 8 - 7 miles each way. Two sections of the trail are steep, nice hike with great views and 24 stream crossings. Look forward backpacking here again in the future.

This is the side we started on for the Zion Trek. Not a difficult trail and there are spectacular views.
