4th of July holiday weekend backpacking trip to Brown Duck, Island, and Kidney Lakes. I thought it would be busy but we literally had the place to ourselves. We saw only 1 other backpacker and a few day hikers the entire weekend. The fishing was great with well over 60 fish caught for the 1 day we fished at each of the lakes. Island and Brown Duck Lakes produced the most fish while Kidney Lake had fewer but slightly larger fish. We saw Osprey diving for fish in the lake while we were there. The views were great and the bugs were minimal for this time of year due to the late snow melt. I would recommend Brown Duck basin for a return trip.
