I was not expecting much from this short trail but it turned out to have my favorite views of Zion. This trail connects to the Emerald Pools Trail, which I found a little underwhelming. I also did Observation Point the day before, and loved the views there as well, but the scenery at Kayenta Trail blew me away. It’s a nice easy hike, perfect for an evening stroll to watch the sunset.

Loved this trail. Much better than lower emerald and leads to upper emerald as well. Steady include at first but levels off with amazing views of the Canyon.

A great hike between The Grotto and the Lodge to avoid the crowds of people.

Good trail for early evening photography. Lots of great views and well lit cliff faces across the valley with good elevation for wide angle and telephoto shots. Rather than return to the Lodge via the Grotto trail, there is a much nicer path along the river just after crossing the bridge.

Started at Grotto Trolley Stop #6. Crossed bridge and turned left onto Kayenta Trail. Followed trail to Lower, Middle, and Upper Emerald Pools. Backtracked to Lower Pool and hiked back to the Zion Lodge, then took the Grotto Trail back to Trolley Stop #6 to end. Approx. 4.0 miles. Trail crowded with a bunch of "non-hikers" today.

Took this to the Emerald Pools Trails. The Lower pools are closed, but I would suggest this route as an alternative either way. It has some pretty views, and was a nice cool down after Observation Point. It is pretty crowded though. For more specific details, you can check out my blog: https://goo.gl/vwWQRx

This is a very pretty hike and not difficult at all. The lower falls are closed right now and the middle ones are okay, but the upper pool and fall was beautiful. The only downside is that the trail and pools were crawling with people. It was super crowded and rather slow-going as a result.

This is a short trail along the west wall of the main canyon that connects the West Rim Trail and Grotto picnic area with the Emerald Pools Trail. It remains relatively level for much of its length. There are some wonderful views from above the Virgin River, looking to the southern end of the canyon. It is best when combined with some of the other surrounding trails.

Great views of the river down the valley. Not to strenuous at all. We walked back down along the river back to the Lodge and had lunch there. Came within several feet of some deer when we turned a corner on the river which was cool. Not nearly as crowded as emerald pools trail

Make this a loop -with Emerald Pools, including Upper pools, for a longer a little more challenging hike than the pools alone. Approximately 4 miles. Be ok for kids, not to young or you probably carry them some.

We hiked this trail from the Emerald Pools. Much easier that way than starting from the Grotto. Mostly downhill. We hiked it in the middle of the day so it was hot with very little shade. Awesome views of the river.

What a wonderful hike. My son and I hiked this yesterday afternoon. Leaving from the Grotto and ending at the Zion lodge is quite a uphill moderate hike. The views of the canyon were beautiful. Plenty of places to stop for photos and snack breaks. The path is easy on the feet and takes you through a nice stretch of pine and cactus. Highly recommended for all. My advice is to hike from the Grotto to the Middle Emerald pool. From there visit the upper pool and then follow the Emerald trail down to the Lodge. Very, very nice.

Compared to others in the area, this hike is suitable for all ages. It offers greats views of the Virgin River and the peaks in the distance. Because of the crowds, this trail is best suited as a fill-in trail when you have an extra hour or two to kill in your schedule.

Pair it with the emerald pools hike for an even better experience!

Easy and pretty. Great views of Zion Canyon.

This trail was honestly disappointing. The pools were basically algae infested ponds, but the massive cliff faces made up for the disappointing aquatics. This trail was overly crowded, especially at the ponds. This trail should be lower on your list when in the park.

Nice moderate hike. We made a loop from the upper Emerald Falls trail connecting to the Grotto trail. Nice views!

Took the Kayenta trail as the return hike from the Upper Emerald Pool. This is an easy to moderate hike and one of the warmest areas in the park. We were there early afternoon and it was 90+ on the trail. Points along the trail give good views of the canyon below.
