The Hickman Natural Bridge trail is a very relaxing and scenic trail in Capitol Reef National Park. A trail brochure - available at the trailhead - points out 17 things to observe along the hike. Notable among these are an indian granary, a small natural bridge called Nels Johnson Bridge, and, of course, Hickman Bridge.

This is beautiful hike. The first 1/4 mile is uphill but then you drop into a small canyon area that offers some beautiful views. The trail is easy and there a few places for shade. The weather wasn’t that great when we went as it was raining on and off again. We checked with the ranger regarding the weather and she said that this trail does not really have any flash flood risks. The bridge is breathtaking. It was amazing to see such a beautiful structure in nature. Once you get close to the bridge, you will want to follow the cairns to guide your path. It’s definitely worth adding this small hike to your list.

Easy hike. I’d recommend buying the 50¢ guide at the beginning. Makes the trip up more interesting.

Great hike with 13yo and 10yo. Both had no problem. Steepest and hardest parts were the first .3 mi. Great views and a nice shaded rest spot at the bridge to enjoy. Recommend going in the morning during the summer to avoid the heat.

Hit this trail on the way back down from viewpoint. Worth the extra 1.5 miles in. Super cool arch.

Did this in the evening. Saw the capitol dome. Also saw Hickman’s arch. Cool little arch. Beautiful view on our way back at sunset of the waterpocket folds. Pick up a trail map to learn more about the surroundings!

Very pretty hike, moderate is a good classification for it as there was a little more elevation gain than I thought there would be. The bridge is gorgeously huge and the views throughout the hike don't disappoint. My only negative was that the trail was a tad bit hard to follow right around the bridge area. Make sure to grab a guide for 50 cents right at the start of the hike, it's fun to follow and there are some cool bits about the geology and flora of the area.

Beautiful hike. Fairly long climb with natural rock steps but worth the effort. The arch is beautiful and so are the vistas all around. My wife and I are in our sixties and had no trouble. When you get near the arch the trail splits and you can loop around either way to the arch. We went right on the way in and took the loop on the way back. If you go right at the split on the way in walk through the arch and take the trail to your left back to where the trail split on the way in. When going to the arch the left trail is easier. Suggest going when the weather is cooler and take water as it is a lot of uphill hiking on the way there.

Fun side hike, gets pretty rocky and can be hard to follow the trail. There are quite a few people though, so finding your way is relatively easy.

Decent trail. Started to rain a little during our hike, but the trail didn't get slippery. There are a few spots you can find shelter if it does rain. Nice arch at the end.

I’ve done this couple times now, once in the fall and once in early June. Both were fun, it’s an easy hike uphill over rocks and rock stairs. Obvious but take lots of water. There’s lots of available bouldering along the way. We did it with kids and they had a good time,

This is a nice shorter hike that allows you to see some of the most famous things in the park including Capitol Dome, Hickman Bridge and Pectols Pyramid.

Tried doing Navajo Knobs. Rainy day and thunder was rolling in so turned back a little after overlook. Trail is very pretty even with clouds and rain. After about the 1st mile the trail turns to rock/cliff. Pretty poorly marked after that point. Some rock cairns help but very easy to lose the actual trail. But exploring the rock face is fun enough itself. Hickman bridge is a short little spur and worth it. Not too difficult and the bridge is pretty impressive.

Nice short hike among awesome rock formations. It was very busy when we went, but it was a holiday weekend so that’s to be expected. Recommended if you have an hour or two to burn.

Great views of arch! A lot larger crowds than Cassidy. Would advise to go earlier in the day to beat large crowds.
