Hell Hole Lake is a great backpacking spot, surrounded by two 12000 ft. peaks and a basin filled with wild flowers and outstanding fishing.

It wasn’t bad on the way in early morning. Once we left the dirt road it was a nice trail. Rocky in spots for the horses but not bad for the Uintas. There was enough snow that the whole east and south sides of the lake were wet. Limited camping areas with this much snow. Poor fishing but I’m not much of a fisherman either. The ride back in the middle of the day was rough on the dirt road portion. No shade whatsoever. If the fishing was better then I’d do it again but make sure you are on the trail either early or late in the day.
