NOTE: The road leading to the trailhead closes periodically due to weather conditions. Please check before visiting. This trail is now OPEN after having been previously closed due to damages from the 2018 Bald Mountain Fire. You will encounter some burned areas. This trail follows a small stream and curves its way through the forest crossing stream on large timbers put in place by the forest service. At the end of the trail you are greeted with a beautiful water fall cascading into a small pool of water, surrounded by steep rock walls.

This trail was relatively easy, but still required a bit of effort. Short bursts of steep inclines, as well as 2 spots you have to cross on a log over water, can make it a little tricky. Harder than I remember, but short. We took our 3 year old and my 70 year old mom. To actually see the falls there's a steep 2-3 foot drop off you need to maneuver as well as 1 more small log to cross. Lots of fun to play in the water!

Easy trail along the river only .5 miles each way. Lots of shade and some wildflowers. Nice waterfall and pools at the end to play in.

Very short trail leading to a waterfall grotto. It was pretty but it was so crowded for a short trial. Nearly 100 people passing us. Had to wait in a line to cross the logs. Worth seeing but go super early in the morning. Easy trail for kids. Not necessary to wear water shoes if you’re careful but you could if you wanted to walk in the water under the waterfall. Hard to find parking when there were so many people there.

Beautiful destination. I’d recommend bringing a towel, and maybe some water great because it’s a great spot to splash around.

Great hike for a family or just for fun. It’s kid friendly if you have children, and it’s very interactive. Fun, short, and beautiful. Some of the trail is burned because if the fires and it’s really sad, however this doesn’t Ake away from the beauty this trail has to offer.

Love this trail! Beautiful vegetation throughout. Short and sweet for the kids. Great shade, no crazy high drop offs. Has a small stream that runs alongside the trail so kids can explore and play as you go up and down. There are a few sections where you’ll have to cross the stream so having good water shoes or sandals is helpful. Most of those spots have logs that you can walk across to get to the other side. It gets fairly narrow at the top by the falls so just walk carefully. It can get busy on this trail so plan accordingly! (We love weekdays in the middle of the day or morning!)

Fun short little “hike”. It is perfect to go with the entire family and dog. Easy enough for small children. Partially shaded so the sun doesn’t beat you up. The water is perfect for kids to play in.

My kids love this hike. We are local so we have hiked it many times over the years purely for the fact that is is so short and easy for our young children to actually get to walk the whole thing and not sit in a hiking backpack. The grotto falls area is also fun to soak your feet it and get wet if you so choose. It is very crowded in late afternoons and on weekends, so if you can go mornings you will miss the crowds and enjoy more space at the actual Grotto.

Easy, but you have to walk through water to get there. Best to do on a hot day.

Easy and rewarding. Lots of families with their kids. A great place to put your feet in the water or even stand under the falls to cool off and relax.

Kid friendly hike! I would highly recommend water compatible shoes to be able to walk into the falls and water at the end but is not necessary to complete the hike. The only downside was that it was a popular hike so there was a lot of traffic. Other then that the hike was short and fun for the whole family.

Shady trail. Slight incline but not horrible . A few wood crossings over the river , then when your super close to the falls, there’s a slight drop. Easiest for me was to sit/slide to shallow water and walk through the water . I feel like that part needs better access . Lots of people . Great hike over all .

Perfect hike for little kids. Easy, short, shaded, water to play in, and a great destination. The crowds are the only problem.

Thought we’d hike this trail yesterday before spending the day fishing, and there were about 35 cars at the trailhead at about 10:30am on a Friday. Big families were gathering to start the hike together. Can you image how many people that is stretched out along a trail that’s only about a 1/4 mile long?! Would the Grotto be any fun with swarms of people?! We haven’t done this trail since the fire, but it is a super fun trail. The one star is really just for the crowds. One of my least favorite parts of the lockdown is how many more people are on the trails. Many of us regular hikers have chosen this hobby because we like to be away from people. Yes, this is a generally high traffic trail, but this is ridiculous. I hope when life “returns to normal,” so do the trails. Okay, introvert and enochlophobia rant over.

The trail is in great shape for having a major fire almost two years ago. There were some spots that are a little tricky but for the most part it was great! It was very crowded for a Wednesday in the middle of the day though.

Easy little walk/hike for young kids & we took our little dog. He was filthy after but we all enjoyed the new growth after the big fire.
