easy walk with great views

We loved this hike! The canyon walls are amazing and stunning to walk through! We came during Spring Break and the crowds were very manageable. The hike is very easy and level and very good for kids of all ages. The length of the hike maybe long for very young children though. We didn’t make it to the end for that reason but still loved doing 2 miles of it out and back.

Beautiful walk up a well graded wash. The only problem was we were there in March on a Tuesday when I counted at least 100 walkers going back-and-forth.

We had the trail almost to ourselves in mid-March. We loved being in the canyon. Wear good hiking boots or shoes, because you will be on sand/gravel. We saw a group of bighorn sheep scaling the canyon walls.

Hiked summer 2017, very cool. Pay attention to the warnings don't become a victim due to stupid planning. This means rain and washouts!

Worth the hike, not too hot but water is a must. Some wildlife can be seen, small lizards, Jack Rabbits etc.

Definitely take some time to relax at the Gifford House. Neat little shop with homemade products. Water is also located here.

Near this area is a large well maintained greenspace area with well fed wild deer. Be careful not to get too close.

Another neat fact, but not necessarily associated with this trail is, during the fall this park operates a huge orchard. You can walk in and eat as much as you want (not the best, but traditional farm orchard from back in the day) or you pay to pick larger quantities.

Loved this easy, beautiful hike. We started from the parking lot at the end of Grand Wash Road then hiked out and back for an easy 4.4 mile hike.

Canyon area, really interesting hike worth trying

This trail is a real pain in the neck...as in, these beautiful walls are so high, we spent the whole time looking straight up. Stunning canyon walls, especially as it narrows.

Amazing! We felt like we were the only people there.

One of our favorite hikes on our trip to Utah! We almost had the trail to ourselves, besides 3 or 4 other groups. Great canyon views and solitude. Very easy trail.

Did this hike at 8:00 in the morning and sandwiched the return trip around a hike to Cassidy Arch. It was 60F when we left and 70F when we returned. The morning light was cool with the shadows and the color on the cliffs that were lit. The return hike had the light shining down into the canyon and made for a hotter return trip. Photographing the canyon in the morning light tough with the deep shadows and the bright lit canyon walls, but I managed. Anyway, the hike itself is easy and the lines in the cliff walls really interesting. In fact, we were enjoying our hike so much we missed the Cassidy Arch junction and wound up at the other end. Just a really cool hike and I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Nice easy hike. No inclines, just a flat trail through the canyon walls. The out and back did not feel like we return the same way we headed out since the view of the landscape completely changed. The turnaround point had a restroom, which was a nice bonus!

We hiked from the Route 24 trailhead. A very flat, easy 2.5 hour round trip through magnificent canyon narrows with a very convenient park toilet at the turn around point which for us was the parking area for those hiking in from the scenic drive end.

Quiet, flat easy trail. Great for a late evening walk.

Very nice flat hike between towering rocks. This wash is made from rushing rainwater but was very dry. We enjoyed beautiful wildflowers. As the day progressed, we passed more people. Good for children.

A completely relaxing hike through a canyon with impressive vertical walls. The kids had a great time here trying to find geodes (with surprising success) and generally just exploring everything they could. It's a great hike to just unwind and enjoy the scenery.

A gentle slope makes this trail easy. The narrows are not too far from the west end so you can go there and back to make a shorter hike. Nice hike in a wonderful national park.

Nice easy shady trail along the wash with huge canyon walls on either side. We connected this trail with Cassidy Arch.

Nice easy trail for just about anyone. Hiked it after a rainstorm yesterday which made the hike easier because the sand was still wet and also made the temperature cooler. The trail has quite a bit of shade in the morning.

Did a shorter section of this trail from the highway to the Capitol Reef parking lot that was a little over two miles. Overall a really neat canyon, definitely worth hiking if you're in the area. Probably the easiest hike we did while we were out in Utah, seeing as how you are just walking through the wash the entire time.
