Capitol Reef is beautiful. Make sure to go get a small pie to energize for this hike. Starting point is at end of a small bumpy dirt road. The trail itself has nice views of the landscape. Follow the cairns to the top and wear sunblock! Completed in May 2019.

Great trail. Pay close attention to cairn. Trail easy to lose at times.

Loved this trail! If you only have time to do one trail in captiol reef, this one is a strong contender and my personal favorite. There is also a massive parabolic cliff-face about halfway up that makes for the best echo chamber.

Enjoyable trail, moderate climbing uphill with good views all around. A good way to tie in a hike to the gorgeous drive down capitol gorge.

A nice hike with some pretty views of the area. You don't get to climb the throne or have more sweeping views of the whole park, but it's still worth the effort. It can get really hot, so make sure you carry enough water even if the hike isn't very long.

Good hike. A steady climb uphill, but nothing too horrible. Took us two hours to go out and back. The actual Golden Throne wasn't so impressive, we were more wowed by the rocks in every direction on the way up and down; we kept pointing out various figures that we could see in them whenever we took a short break. This is a nice hike to do if you're planning on a number of shorter ones along the park's scenic drive.

This trail is beyond amazing, definitely recommend it when visiting Capital Reef. If you go early in the morning, you may see a couple of wildlife Big Horn Sheep!

Amazing scenery with a little bit of a challenge. Bring your lunch for the top.

We enjoyed this hike. Note the drive in is 2.5 miles on a bumpy dirt road. Not that fun in a lower riding small car!

I really enjoyed this trail. Very few people. Lots of interesting rock formations. Trail has a decent climb and plenty of tricky steps. For strong hikers, no problem. Some exposed cliff edges, but not scary.

Good trial. Steady climb up with great views once you get away from the parking lot. Very exposed during the middle of the day so bring lots of water. Take Capitol Gorge road to the parking lot at the end of the dirt road and the trailhead is near the beginning of the parking lot.

Good short hike. It's a climb that is steady, but noticeably steeper in the 2nd half. Great views, fantastic switchbacks, and the Golden Throne itself is marvelous.

Great. I always enjoy the ledge walking though it never feels dangerous. As one who finds enjoyment in summitting, the end was a bit anti climactic.

I wouldn't say this trail is hard, just a steady climb uphill. The views on the way up showcase the gulch really well. The top has a great view of the Golden Throne, but the gulch is just okay as you can see the entrance and i like the feeling of being enclosed by the gulch that you get on the way up. Beautiful views most of the time though.

Tough to review this one. Views not as good as Navajo knobs or Cassidy arch, but good nonetheless. So I'd rate it below those two for sure but still a great hike, worth the effort and the golden throne lives up to its name. Would definitely do this again.

2 miles of incline to reach end of trail/summit. Gorgeous views all along the way. Not for the faint of heart.

The trailhead is before the parking lot at the end of the dirt road to it and Capitol Gorge Trail. Steady climb up, no scurrying necessary. Great views of weathered sandstone fins (look like it anyway) on your left going up, along with the dirt road that used to be called the Blue Highway (or Roadway), which we now call Capitol Gorge. The trail traces the edge of the gorge like Cassidy Arch Trail and Navajo Knobs Trail do. Amazing views all around. As you approach the end, walk all the way to the "End of Trail" sign and then turn around. The view of the Golden Throne(s) is amazing and worth the hike. After taking pix, go beyond the "End of Trail" sign and look down at the gorge for several other amazing formations, including one we dubbed the 'curtain' or 'drapes' on the left off the overlook, which faces the northwest. This is my favorite NP.

Steep in places, but not a hard hike. And views, especially at the end, that are spectacular.
