Skip this. Half of the hike is a view of road and buildings. Much better petroglyphs are available by driving one mile further into the park. Very few fossils are visible to the untrained eye. I suggest going to the quarry visitor center to see fossils and then taking the Sound of Silence hike to see the amazing geology of the park.

So many better trails in Dinosaur National Monument. This one is great if you like doing stairs in the middle of the desert to a destination you could drive to. haha. Actually, we drove up and then 1/2 the family hiked down (more like trail ran down) just to say we'd seen the trail. It was thoroughly unimpressive.

Make sure to take this via a ranger-led tour. We got to see real fossils (even some big ones) in the hillsides! The rangers also have a ton of really interesting information that gives a lot more context to what we were seeing.

For some reason it did not record my hike. We started from fossil area and walked the trail back to the visitor center. It is fairly easy and down hill. Other than the heat it was smooth sailing.

Quick easy walk from the Quarry building up top back down to the main visitor center. There is a guided tour every once in a while but it takes an hour and a half or so for them to get through the whole thing that way vs pretty quick just going on your own. The Quarry is the must see going inside to see the fossils preserved in rock wall is incredible!

A nice short trail connecting the visitor center to the quarry. Hard to find some of the fossils but we had fun looking.

This is an amazing trail! The trail takes you to different fossil formations: clams, fish scales, and dinosaurs. There is an actual fossilized dinosaur femur embedded in the rock wall that you can touch. There’s also a vertebra about 20 or 30 feet up in the wall. The guide says 10 but it’s higher than that. There are also petroglyphs. The trail takes you from the Exhibit Wall to the Visitor’s Center. There’s a shuttle that takes you up to the Exhibit Wall so you’re just walking back to where you parked.

A pleasant hike back with fossils you can find yourself!

Nice easy hike, downhill mostly from the exhibit hall back to the visitor center. Can touch a real dinosaur fossil. Interesting geology and neat scenary. Petroglyph wall too!

Trail begins on the north edge of the drop off zone for the Quarry Building. It runs about 2 miles back to the visitors center. You can ride the tram up to the quarry and take the trail back down to the visitors center. It's an easy hike, some stairs but that's about it. Marked fossils and deposits along the trail and some petroglyphs. As a family, we really enjoyed the trail. I'll post some pictures so everyone can see what this trail is like. Hopefully, it will help you make decisions about your trip to Dinosaur NM. Enjoy!
