Great hike! We finished it but there was definitely more snow on the last 2 miles than anticipated which slowed us down. Would recommend hiking boots, long pants and possibly snow gear for getting through the deep snow patches.

Memorial Day Weekend 2020. Steep in parts. Wonderful meadows and views! Saw Black bear and 2 cubs at ~3,220 meters (10,500 feet) ascent. They moved off after hearing us without incident. Patches of snow, but passable. Parts of the trail wet. Use hiking boots as rocky path. Started trail from behind Bowery Haven Resort (to avoid ATV track/road).

Made it a bit less than halfway to Sumit. Lots of deep snow impeded ascent in addition to snow storm that passed through. Did not have proper winter gear. Great views from where I got. The top must be spectacular.
