Very good trail I only made it to Shepard lake and then camped there at an amazing site by the waterfall. It was a great first backpacking experience would recommend

Loved this hike! The scenery is beautiful and the trail is easy to follow. It’s a gradual decline and you do hit some rocks closer to Shepherd’s Lake but nothing too bad.

Beautiful trail, just the right length, and the elevation difference isn’t too bad. It was windy so when the sun wasn’t peeking around the clouds it felt a little cold.

Hot, dusty trail, but gorgeous views despite all the beetle kill. So many lakes to choose from. We ended up only going to Harris lake before camping to avoid all the bushwhacking. It’s nice that this route is scalable, and you really can’t go wrong with any stopping point.

Awesome home, beautiful lakes. be aware that past Hoover Lake there is lots of bushwhacking. Some trails/roads until about Mile 3.0, but the last bit down to Echo Lake is all find-your-own-way. Be sure to do some hootin' and hollarin' when you get to Echo Lake; it is well named. On the way back, it is REALLY easy to miss the turnoff at Shepard Lake that goes back up the hill. The trail that continues around the north side of the lake is clearer. Just look for the sign and be watching your GPS.

Beautiful hike!!! Fehr lake was the first and prettiest of the three. Tough hike for a fit outsider despite 4 days of acclimation. Do not underestimate the short mileage- the elevation packs a punch of thin air and caused us to reach for way more water than anticipated.... we hiked 3k of elevation over 10 miles to and from Lake Blanche near SLC the next day and found it just as hard. Out of towners- Do not underestimate this little hike! Bring more water than you think you need & extra sunscreen- it’s a great workout!

Great trail. Loved hiking around the border of the last lake. Not technically on the all trails map but well worth it.

Beautiful lakes. Only saw a few people. There is a 4th lake right next to Hoover Lake on the left. It was our favorite.

It was okay. I'd definitely choose other trails over this one in the Uintas. Having all the lakes was nice though with the dogs. Plenty of places to cool off. I just can't say the hike was anything spectacular or memorable.

This hike was so fun! Beautiful views! You can hit 4 lakes and fairly shady. We took dogs with us so we came early started the trail around 9 am. We didn’t really run into people until we started hiking out. Definitely a new favorite trail!

It was a good experience in the Uintas on a busy holiday weekend. Wasn’t as secluded as I had hoped, but I expected some people. Nice to arrive at 830am and still get a parking spot at the trailhead, unlike other more popular trailheads. The trail got hot, with very little breeze or wind. It’s an interesting “reverse hike” where you go downhill first, and uphill on the way back. Fairly easy to Fehr Lake; moderate beyond that. The trail is rocky and steep in places, with the potential to slide out if you don’t choose footing carefully. Saw lots of fishing and camping. Dogs played in all the lakes. Didn’t have any problems with mosquitos, probably due to the time of hike: 830a-12.

HikingBugsGreat!

Hiked all the way to Hoover and Maba Lakes - beautiful!! We first stopped at Washington and Trial Lakes - parking lots full and tons of people there (on July 24 - Pioneer Day holiday in Utah). Decided to give this trail a try and it did not disappoint! A lot fewer people on this trail even on a busy day. Beautiful wildflowers, and the lakes with the giant mountains behind them were stunning. Going all the way to Maba Lake was a bonus - beautiful secluded lake with tons of lily pads on it.

Such a beautiful trail! Plenty easy enough for small kids. Beauty around every corner. We almost had this trail to ourselves.
