Getting There

Fairyland Loop Trail begins at Fairyland Point, at the northern portion of the park, and takes you through spectacular hoodoos and scenery along the rim and into the canyon; including a spur trail to Tower Bridge. The Fairyland Loop Trail also includes a portion of the Rim Trail from Sunrise Point to Fairyland Point. This hike is considered hard due to its length and meandering trails with multiple elevation changes. It is best to carry plenty of water, 1 quart (liter) for every 2-3 hours of hiking per person, as this hike typically takes 4-5 hours round trip over the 8 mile (12.9 km) length. In the summer sun screen or large brim hats are recommended and are even a comfort year round to avoid sunburn.

Parking is available at Fairyland Point, at the northern portion of the park.

Utah Travel Council, Council Hall, P.O. Box 147420 , Salt Lake City, UT, 84114, Phone: 801-538-1030, travel@utah.com

Directions from Bryce Canyon Visitor Center: Fairyland Point Access: Drive northward approximately one mile on Scenic Drive to the access road for Fairyland Point. Turn right and travel one more mile to the parking area.

HikingGreat!No shade

This trail was absolutely be in every way. The views. The wildlife. The ups and downs. And the challenge it brings. This hike is not for the faint of heart or the weak. Lots of ascending and descending. Would recommend for your first hike ever in Bryce. You see a bit of everything.

Deceiving on the way out. We were a bit concerned about the storms surrounding us. Thunder echoing in the canyon was great. Made it out with only a few raindrops.

We started at Fairyland trailhead and looped around at Sunrise Point to finish back at Fairyland. Start early to beat the crowds and heat!! This loop consisted of descending and ascending into the canyon several times at different points to give you some amazing views. Bring lots of water, as it is a longer hike and there is minimal shade throughout. This is a great hike to see various parts of Bryce Canyon!!!

Awesome hike amongst the whoodoos. We started at 830am and went clockwise. A long down section at the beginning and a longer up section starting at mile 4ish. The rest was up and down. Trail is well maintained with good signs and no difficult sections. Poles are useful on the up section for older folks like me.

Although extremely scenic and well worth the time, it wasn’t the most scenic of all the trails we hiked this trip. The moderate rating seemed accurate and the weather was fantastic. Start early to avoid the crowds. Greats views and a wonderful hike!

HikingGreat!

This is as gorgeous and magical as everyone says. Arrived at 6:30am to a mostly empty lot. Went clockwise and basically had the trail to ourselves, less the people coming counterclockwise who we met at mile 4 and beyond. Everyone we encountered was pleasant and put on their mask as we passed (we did the same!) The path is very well kept - no technical aspect to it, just a little bit of up and down. Definitely a must do!

After starting at Bryce Point and ending up at Sunrise Point, I talked my wife into doing a short 1.5mile to Tower Bridge. Then talked her into just doing the 8 mile loop back to our car in the long term parking by the visitor center. It was a great hike with view after view. Almost all in the sun, but with water and temps in the 80s, it was very nice.

Great trail, scenic views throughout. There are two points to start, at official trailhead and at lodge. Either works. Lodge has bathrooms. We went counterclockwise saving the “big ascent” for last and I’m glad we did, the views starting counterclockwise came early and the ascent was not bad at all

HikingGreat!

One of the most stunning hikes I’ve ever done, period. Unbelievable views at every turn, from above the canyons, below the hoodoo formations and right amidst them. Gorgeous paths, well maintained and well marker. Definitely challenging because of the uphill and downhill, but there are flat sections amidst the up and downs and plenty of shady spots to stop and rest. Make sure you bring plenty of water, we ran out. Left the trailhead around 2:30 pm and made it back by 6:30 pm, our Strava app calculated 3 hours of moving time with an hour for snack/water/photo breaks! If you leave from the fairyland view parking lot, take the trail on the left to do the loop clockwise! TLDR: If you have the stamina for the 8 miles I cannot recommend this hike more!
