Did not hike this trail, instead we used it as a break from driving and it was lovely! Right off the trailhead we took of our shoes, walked around in the creek, and chilled. I’m sure the trail is lovely and if you’re looking for a little rest stop or a little creek to play in this is perfect.
A beautiful trail that follows the Escalante River. We had the trail all to ourselves, did not see one other person. The river crossing was easy. Once you park in the parking lot this trail starts on the other side of the highway. There is a path that goes under the highway that takes you to the trailhead.
This is a great trail for all levels. There is one ladder to climb up to a higher elevation and avoid walking the river. We only went to the point where we would have had to cross the river and turned back about 4 miles round trip. The water was flowing quite fast due to the Spring runoff.
We rented a place with this trail going past so tried unsuccessfully to travel upstream and downstream Unfortunately due to highish water were unable to easily cross the river and were not prepared to dip into the icy fast flowing water of the Escalante River.
