The Elephant Arch trail takes you an arch resembling an elephant's head and trunk. The first half of the trail is easy walking along a double track, then up a sandy wash, You encounter typical low land desert landscape, lots of red rocks, and a cool arch at the end.

Such a beautiful day and a perfect hike! The trail was well marked on Bone Wash and then up to Elephant Arch. I made the mistake of continuing on Bone wash and had to retrace my steps a little. The arch was easy to spot from about 200 feet. I suggest climbing up behind the elephant for the best pictures. Fun hike!

1/12/2019 Did the elephant arch hike this morning and then to the end of the Bone Wash. We hiked two and a half hours on both trails. Easy fun hike and. the weather was perfect for a little over five miles. We like doing it a few times between January and April.

The directions to the Trail head need to be updated. Once you hit the fire station continue on to the second street on your left which is Main Street. Turn left on to Main and into the Brio home development. Main Street turns into a dirt road. Continue on the dirt road to the trail head.

Very nice trail. Basically a service road until you get to the Wilderness section which was over 2 miles down. We did not see signs for Elephant Arch, but if you follow the Mill Creek signs, it will lead you to Elephant Rock. From Trail head where we parked it was about 6 mile round trip outing.

Such a mellow hike through a lot of pretty canyons and dry river beds. The beginning wasn’t quite as scenic, but after about the first mile, it gets much more enjoyable. About 4 miles round trip - great family hike.

The end of this hike is worth 5 stars, but overall I give it four. If you start your hike where the pavement currently ends (the entrance to the Brio home development), it’s about 7 miles round trip up to Elephant Arch and back. Once you get off the unpaved dirt road and start your ascent up Bone Wash, heading toward the arch, the real beauty of this hike begins.

Sandy trail with minimal shade. Better for a winter family hike.
