Hiking

Nice evening hike from the campground. Trail was shaded by the late in the day sun being lower in the sky. Skies are hazy due to fires across the west. Perfect temps on Oct.

Hiking

I did this trail in the late afternoon in mid-October so temperatures were super pleasant. The Green River Campground was closed for the season and I was the only one on the trail. It was so relaxing and the scenery was beautiful. For those attempting to find the trail from Split Mountain Campground, walk through the closed part of the campground to the trail marker at the end of the road. There are 2 trails - the first immediately behind the trail marker leads to the river. I thought at first the trail had been washed out, thinking it was along the river. Nope. Take the second trail, about 10 feet beyond the first, and you'll see the trail turn to the right and up the side of the mountain a little ways. The trail traverses the side of the mountain between the two campgrounds. Views of the river and Split Mountain can't be beat.

Running

Great trail to get easily between the green river and split mountain campgrounds. The path is narrow with some shrubby overgrowth in spots. Takes you up one little hill with a great overlook of the split rocks and river around then back down either side to the camping areas. Great for a morning trail run.

1-2 beautiful views. I’d recommend the sound of silence and desert voices 5.5 mike combo over this hike for views and serenity. This hike is good if you want something short and want to smell the river.
