Slot Canyon totally worth the climb back up the sand.

Definitely need the right equipment for this one! Once you get to the first hook DO NOT think “I can do this” and try to keep going. We had quite a climb to get out of the canyon and had to find our way back to the trail we had just come down. Thanks to East Zion Adventures for helping us join back up after we got separated. We should have just hired them to take us in the first place! We would have been able to finish the loop. Overall, epic adventure, beautiful scenery and views.

This is a canyoneering trail. Several rappels.

HikingGreat!

I know it says it's for rappelling, but we really enjoyed the hike, and scrambling a little way up the slot canyon. Our seven year old loved climbing around. Once you get to the wash at the bottom you can go right along the wash and get to the slot canyon there. You can also go straight ahead down another short part of the wash and see the other side of the slot. It was cool to see people rappelling down from there. We didn't do the loop and chose to go back the way we came. It's a beautiful hike, and hardly any people.

Did counterclockwise trail and stopped once we hit the rappelling gear (obvious hooks on the canyon wall and about a 6-8 foot drop). Hike to the canyon is about 1.5 miles with one steep decline shortly before you arrive at the canyon. Small drops and boulders to scramble over within the canyon. Very cool!! We did the hike last week and then took my non-hiker parents today and they loved it. It was pretty hard for them, but they were so jazzed by the end, saying how glad they were that they did it. When you reach the canyoneering portion, scramble up the rocks to a beautiful overlook! Well worth it. (My parents didn’t do that portion.)

HikingGreat!

Did the counterclockwise loop, no gear, just circumvented all the spots that required a rap.

Stopped where the rappelling section starts, which in and out was about 2.6 miles. Still well worth it! It’s a cool slot! As other reviews said, go to the right of the loop if hiking and not canyoneering. There is a huge opening and obvious hooks for ropes at the point where you stop and turn back. Before then, there are some smaller obstacles and two drops around six feet, but with two adults, a kid, a dog, and a bit of teamwork, it was manageable to scramble up and down

Boring approach but fun slot. If you have 4x4 I would drive a mile back. Didn’t finish because I had to be somewhere

take the first right if you dont have climbing equipment, you will get to a point were it becomes obvious that you should turn around. if you have climbing equipment, take left at the start of the trail. moderate difficulty

The pictures I saw before going do not do it justice. We went with a 10, 8 & 5 year old. We did have to climb around one of the repelling spots. If your kids aren’t sporty or are easily frightened it probably isn’t for you. You could probably go around a lot of the hard stuff but would miss out on the best parts. We were the only people out on the trail. Keep your map handy. There are a lot of cut off trails and you could easily get off track.

Awesome beginner trail for canyoneering! I would even say it’s worth a hike out to the first set of rappel anchors just for the views at the beginning of the trail! It’s really sandy & there is a tiny bit of snow, but it wasn’t wet when we were there just a few days ago. All Trails gives pretty poor descriptions for finding the trail head, but we found directions online that were super detailed & helpful— I would recommend using this website especially if you are new to canyoneering. http://www.bluugnome.com/cyn_route/zion_diana-throne/zion_diana-throne.aspx We were moving pretty quickly, and it took us right around 1.5 hours & my watch tracked 2.8 miles from our parking spot round trip! Lots of pretty canyon views & we were the only people on the trail.

HikingGreat!

A fun hike, wasn't able to make it all the way through without rope (well we probably could have, but didn't want to risk injury as we still had days of hiking ahead!). A great intro to slot canyons, no one was out there, got to let out my inner child and play on the rocks!

The trail wasn’t marked very well so we got lost a few times... ended up being about 4 miles total not 2.4
