Getting There

Please note that that is not the trail TO the Delicate Arch. That trail is elsewhere in the park and can also be found on AllTrails. The route on this page takes the hiker a short distance to a beautiful overlook where you can see the Delicate Arch in the distance. This trail is rated as "easy" because it is short and not strenuous. If you go in the winter, it's important to note that this trail has numerous places where people leave the trail to take photos, and these vantage points can be icy and slippery in the winter. Details: Length: 100 yards (91 meters) round trip Time: 10 to 15 minutes In addition to the short accessible trail, another (moderately strenuous) hiking trail climbs one-half mile (0.8 km) toward Delicate Arch and ends at the rim of a steep canyon that separates the viewpoint from the arch. (This is not the popular trail to Delicate Arch, which starts at the Wolfe Ranch parking area.)

Nice parking lot at the trailhead.

Another viewpoint of the Delicate Arch. Easy, steep, nice view of the Delicate Arch, not so crazy crowded.

This was a good, brief trail to see the delicate arch from a different vantage. Its main perk was in avoiding the crowds at the arch itself (we went in the evening). A good trail if you’re just getting to the park and want a feel for the area.

It was just a short hike to see the delicate arch from pretty far away. Next time will do the actual arch trail.

Easy to pivot into this trail going up to Delicate Arch. It can be easy up or hard depends on where you lay your foot. We had a lovely time.

Fun short hike but very disappointed in people’s trail etiquette - nonexistent! Very few people wearing masks or allowing social distancing. It is a beautiful view but if you struggle with stairs or slippery gravel/sand, you may struggle with the entire trail and may need to stay at the lower viewpoint.

Stay hydrated! I went on a 100 degree day and threw up after, it’s very steep at the end.

So much worth to see the arch and do that trail instead. But it is a nice lookout if you are unable to do the arch trail.

May 2019 trip to Southwest, fifth visit to UT, last time was 10 years ago in late spring. Day 5 This was mine first National Park I visit 22 years ago in late spring. Just got enough time before gets dark to see this iconic arch from distance (next day finally hike it). Today saw 8 other most at Devils Garden.

Great viewpoint without the hike required to actually get to Delicate Arch. If you have a telescopic lens and a tripod you'll be able to get some get shots of the Arch with a third of the hike.

If you continue past where the AllTrails path ends on the slick rock, a nice panorama awaits at the top!

Check for the hourly weather forecast to plan out your hike. We were going to do the sunset hike but during that time the temp would have be unbearable, warning of wind gust and possible rain. So, we started at 8 am and finishing up by 11 am the next day. We had 4 liters of water for 5 of us. Ranging from 4 year old to 44 years of age. We did it in 2 hours and 1 hour was for photos and sitting around. We were able to find some shades during the hike to rest up. I think this hike is very doable. I am not in shape and had kids in tow. Well worth the trip!

Short but relatively steep hike, provides great view of Delicate Arch and surrounding sandstone structures. Definitely a fun hike that’s not too long.

Not very interesting hike. There is a fair amount of elevation, but the reward is only a view of the arch from very far away. Better, in that case, do the full Delicate Arch trail.

If you want to see the Delicate Arch, but don't want to walk the difficult shadeless way to it, this is really your best option. It's not that close unless you have some incredible zoom on your camera, but the shot is still iconic.
