Met Scott and headed back up Armstrong and then down Dawn’s. Tricky somewhat dangerous ski trail crossings. Had to play Frogger.

Tough for the first mile and then relatively flat. great views of the ski area. Park at Silver Star even though the signs tell you not to.

Amazing views with the leaves changing colors. We connected it with the Spiro trail to make a loop. Perfect!

Not for the uphill weary. You have to park about a mile away. But there's a nice trail from the Park City Mountain Resorts parking lot toward if you look at the trail map (Google walking directions will route you to trailhead all right, but will take you on a street for part of it.)

Based on this being “easy” and kid friendly I didn’t expect a mile of pretty steep uphill. After that it leveled out and was pretty pleasant and shaded.

I went for a hike with my friend who wore bad shoes. He had a big blister coming on halfway through and took off his shoes and walked in socks the last 3 miles. It was impressive. He was not an extremely happy camper. Good times had by all though.

Hiking

Just went on this trail today and like the other reviews said, the first bit is steep uphill and directly in the sun. The trail is also incredibly narrow the entire time so not great for covid distancing, but otherwise clear trail. The views of Park City were spectacular in the beginning as you initially climb up, but as you hike more into the forest there really is no view until the very end.

Good trail for a quick hike that is a close drive. Limited parking and very popular area for mountain biking. The first bit is pretty steep with zero shade, but the switchbacks help and then you get yourself into a flatter shaded journey. I’d rate it an easy hike for most hikers, but I could see some people or smaller children not enjoy the beginning on a really hot day. I also recorded the distance at something like 4.2 miles if you walk all the way to where they say the trail ends, but there is no need to go that for since the ending is just an intersection with a mountain bike trail.

Hiking

Pretty hike, but I would rate it “Moderate” rather than “Easy.” The first 30 minutes of hiking consists of steep elevation gains and is consistently uphill. Otherwise, it is a very scenic hike.

Left a car at Silver Star, drove up to Iron Mt Court to climb up the rocky and steep Iron Mt trail. Connected to Mid Mountain trail, to Armstrong to Dawns finishing at Silver Star Cafe for a delicious lunch !

I give one star to the first 75% of this hike because you can hear the traffic from highways 224 and 248 all the way up the mountain. I gave the last 25% five stars because eventually you hit a spot where a creek drowns out the traffic noise and you pass through beautiful alpine forest and other great canopy scenery. Also I would rate this trail as moderate given the amount of elevation change and how steep even some of the switchbacks are.

First to Review

Went up Dawn’s trail first which is a steeper up for the first 1.4 Miles then had a nice gradual downhill on Armstrong. The bottom of dawns trail was e posed but the rest shady. Path not very rocky. Mostly packed dirt. Met lots of bikers going opposite me up Armstrong.
