Great hike for families. We did this with young kids. Beautiful slot canyon right at the beginning. There was lots of snow on the ground. A lot of picking your path over small rocks. Very little traffic on the trail.
4 stars only because it’s right next to/below the road and i wish it ventured further into the wilderness. There are beautifullll views but really only one good section of a small slot canyon. Walking in a sandy creekbed the whole time. It was my first hike of the day on this side of Zion, otherwise I wouldnt have done it. It’s spectacular only if you havent done much exploring yet.
Great little hike, perfect for families. There is a slot canyon and lots of places you can explore and climb up the side of the canyon.
Started around 9:30 and didn't see any other hikers. This is a great trail to experience the beautiful colors and formations in a slot canyon. Great for anyone who can scramble over small- medium rocks in the creek bed. It's so cool to be able to climb around on the sandstone. We had a great time and took lots of photos!
This trail is a hidden gem. My recording recorded only one way. I ended up walking back on the road by climbing up a hill as I was running out of time. I loved the slot canyon and have heard there's a few more on this trail that can be turned into a loop trail. Maybe the other slots are technical... the one I saw was easy to enter, no bouldering or technical aspects. Simply amazing. Hope to go back and finish this trail.
Wonderful short hike. A bit rugged, great narrow areas. Awesome views and scenery
My kids liked playing in the rocks. 11,9,7,4. To the left is a slot canyon. Definitely very rocky. To the right is a tunnel to another much more technical slot canyon. Water and drops. We turned around. The colors on the left hand d one were great. Apparently you can make it a loop if you have technical skills.
great for kids. 12 and 15 yo loved it. lots of climbing and exploring. no trail head. park off of freeway
It was too close the road for my taste- perhaps better in cooler weather and when the park is quieter.
Nice trail to hike with the family. Kids aged 10-12 all did well. We were able to stop for shade under some trees. Lizards and birds were seen a lot. It is rocky, so we took our time with the kids, but overall a nice easy trail. There is a tunnel that leads under the road to the other side, but it does not go very far, still fun for the kids though.
It was ok, we saw lizards and tadpoles. Going through the narrows was the best part. But, since it’s a dried up river bed it is full of rocks. It was very difficult for my 4 year old to maneuver through the rocks so I carried her on my back most of the time. Don’t think I would consider it good for young kids.
Wanted to end a day of hiking with an easy trail. Didn't see much wildlife in the late morning, early afternoon but the scenery was beautiful. The trail has firm footing through most with gravel, sand, and rock in various places. A worthwhile hike with children and a bonus of two slot canyons along the trail.
