Great trail, took a stock Chevy Colorado bison. A few technical spots to choose a careful line. Not a difficult trail, just use your head. Well worth the drive, don’t miss the view to the north just before the first drop off. Well worth it if you’re looking for a little challenge for your stock 4wd. Real wheelers will laugh at the “obstacles”. We had great APRS/ham radio service the whole way, and limited cell coverage. The views of hurrah pass and chicken corner trails are cool too.

It is a fun off-road driving and a nice view at the top. With 4x4 and big wheels it would be no big deal. With a regular 4x4 would be a little bit of difficulty on the rough rock sections. 4x4 and high clearance would be sufficient. Non 4x4 SUV does not need to make this drive (Outback for example). The road is very narrow and you may have to drive on the sands to make room for another car driving at the opposite direction. No kidding. The last 3 miles are nothing but driving on the rocks and some sections are technical.

Amazing views the entire way but if you get to the end, a real treat. Seeing the river so far below is hard to describe. We got there just after sunset so the colours were vivid. Drove it in a stock Cherokee Trailhawk with no problems. A couple of bumps to the underside but no big deal. The last kilometre gets pretty rocky. Vehicles with more clearance and larger tires will laugh at this. A great little trip.

This is mainly a 4 wheel drive trail. We were the only mountain bikers on the trail. Saw maybe 4-6 jeeps on the whole ride. It is pretty steep near the trail head with some technical rocky parts. The rest of the trail was fun. We ran into a lot of sand when we went which slowed us down. Way worth the view at the overlook however. Make sure to start at elephant hill and turn right at forks on the way out.

A sandy/rocky trail that starts at the visitor center Needles district of Canyonlands NP. The last couple of miles are pretty rough, but you can hike that part. Views of the Colorado River.
