Good hike, but either the trail description or the route map is inaccurate, because total elevation gain is about 1,800 feet, not 1,200; trail’s end of the mapped route tops out at around 6,800. Trail gentle at first, then steeper. Becomes very overgrown about halfway up, and finishes with bouldering up a draw.

Great hike! We came to the end of the trail and kept going. And decided to make it a loop instead of an out and back. Our 4 mile hike turned into 10. And got a dog bite to boot!!!

This trail was a good one for a beginner like myself. It isn’t anything spectacular at the beginning but as you get higher and into the canyon it gets more beautiful.

Average hike; it's pretty right now due to the green, but nothing spectacular. I can see it being a nice hike if you're looking for a little exercise away from people.

This hike was nothing special, but it did have a beautiful view of Ben Lomond and was very peaceful because nobody else was on it. There isn’t really a destination (it just kind of ends on the trail), which was a little odd. The beginning was steep, but the rest was okay.

I'd recommend this trail. It starts off pretty steep and then kind of evens out until the end where there is another section of steep trail. The area is really pretty and green right now. Lots of beautiful wildflowers along the trail as well. There were only a handful of other people we saw on the trail so not very busy at all. We enjoyed the last half of the trail the most as it was in the trees. Overall, great trail!

Nice easy hike with views of Ben Lomond, Willard Bay, Great Salt Lake, and North Ogden. Took a while because I stopped to take hundreds of photos and vlogged it.

Beautiful trail! It was much steeper and more strenuous than I was prepared for but beautiful all the same. The dogs loved the hike as well but we needed to pack more water since the only Creek was at the trailhead for them to drink.

This trail starts off at a high incline and it continues going uphill, until you hit the corner with all the trees about halfway up. then it’s even ground, the view is amazing I loved seeing all of north ogden and all the trees. i’m sore as all hell but it was worth it

On the way up in freezing temperatures I had great traction. On the way back at almost 40 degrees I was sliding down like a waterside tube full of mud and slurry. It’s winter (or early spring) now so time of day (or current temperature) is a factor. It’s muddy as can be with the melt and runoff so Below freezing you have great traction on the steep shortcut accents and descents if you want to take those shortcuts. If you are above freezing you are going to be in some crazy mud

Like much of the other trails on the west faces, there’s a lot of sunshine. It was very warm on the trail today, downright hot as I descended into the canyon, even thought it was only in the 50s today, I believe. The trail going up the other side of the canyon was snowy in spots and much cooler. The Major is on display and it’s truly a sight to see. Watching the flag dance in the breeze was seriously relaxing. It’s worth it to go up, just for that!

Beautiful! Breathtaking scenery in early October with the changing colors. There are a lot of crisscrossing trails at the beginning so pay attention, although MOST of them will eventually meet up again. I like taking the switchbacks instead of the wider, steeper trail. This hike was not difficult, and has nice waypoints and gorgeous views.

Great trail. Quite a bit uphill for the first mile but it leveled out after. LOCK your doors and HIDE your valuables. Our truck window was busted out and my girlfriend's purse was stolen. There's signage at the trailhead parking lot for a reason.

Took our kids 8, 7, 3 and dog, had a good time. Some steep parts of the trail but nothing lengthy that I would too dangerous for my crew to navigate. Watch out for bikers on the trail as some of the switchbacks are hard to see you or them coming around steep, sharp corners.

Started on North Ogden Divide road where the BST crosses. Took BST East and South to where it intersects Coldwater Creek trail at the switchbacks. Followed around into Coldwater Canyon and went down the canyon and back to the trailhead. Good moderate hike. Not as difficult as it looked from the valley floor. Down the canyon section was nice and shady.

Fabulous hike. Much of it is exposed to the sun. Recommend pressing on past the creek to get views of the canyon from both sides, the added elevation gain is minimal and you can experience more of what the canyon has to offer.
