To get to the Lake Fork Trailhead, head north from US 40 in Duchesne on Utah 87 following signs toward Mountain Home. North of Mountain Home, 18.9 miles north of Duchesne, the road jogs right for 0.1 mile then turns left and continues north. Just beyond the jog the pavement ends and a gravel road continues north across Tribal land. The pavement start at the national Forest boundary after the pavement starts. Finished hiking on this section on the third day of a loop hike. Started at Rock Lakes in Squaw Basin and was planning on camping near the river on this trail but never got close enough to the river to camp until the inlet of Moon Lake which made for a long day. At least most of it was downhill
