Excellent hike but it’s underestimating the distance by six miles. The topo maps for this area show a much longer trip. We backpacked in August and and really enjoyed the trail but it was too hot. Carry plenty of water (>1.5 gal per person per day in the hotter months, no water is available on the trail). Easy to follow the trail, climbs up and out of the canyons are fun and offer great trails and views.

Epic four day / three night backpacking trip. Started at Squaw Flat Campground and headed to camp first night at Squaw Flat 2 (SQ2) which was a bit tricky to find - had to turn off Squaw Flat Loop toward Peekaboo Spring / Lost Canyon. The SQ2 campsite is just over the creek on Peekaboo Spring / Lost Canton trail. After setting up camp, we did the Lost Canyon Loop - was glad we didn’t miss this - such variety in the landscape and you do not want to miss the view into the canyon!
