The route to Cave Peak via Big Rock/Mueller Park trail begins at the Big Rock trailhead at the entrance of Mueller Park Canyon. The Big Rock trail slowly gains elevation while winding around ridges. The most prominent ridge is just shy of mile 2, and is notable as the pipeline bisects the trail. At this point, follow the trail along the pipeline as it ascends the ridge in a roughly southwest direction for about three quarters of a mile. This route is short, but steep. Additionally, footing can be a challenge when walking atop the abundant loose rocks. Because of these conditions, this route is classified as “hard.”

I've done this hike a few times. Offers great views, and I've seen some interesting wildlife as well. I recommend it.
