Cassidy Arch Canyon is a technical canyoneering route involving 7 rappels up to 140 ft tall through 3 arches. This awesome canyoneering route starts at the popular Cassidy Arch in Capitol Reef National Park. The canyon starts off with a bang as you drop 140 feet through Cassidy Arch followed by another 140-foot rappel. Five more rappels take you through 2 more arches/natural bridges and through sections of scenic canyon rarely visited by others. The canyon takes about half a day and is great fun for canyoneers.

Saw a HUGE ram on the trail. Gorgeous hike. Follow cairns at top section. Not for those who get vertigo. Steep climbs and slick rock. Do not do this hike if you expect any rain.

Best part isn’t the arch, but rather the panorama view from the west edge beyond the actual arch

Nice climb to a arch that you view from above, climb a little more for a valley wide view

Awesome trail. Short and sweet and to an awesome destination. Me and my friend did this in 45 mins, but we definitely hauled butt. Sweet views along the way to a gorgeous arch you can actually go stand on! Super rad. Easy to follow, when you’re hiking on slick rock there are plenty of rock stacks to guide your way.

Fun trail. Look for the image of the Virgin Mary on the rock wall about half way down on your right.

Great trail, people form all age group can make this hike. There is very little shade. Parking can be an issue. Bring high clearance vehicle if you need to park on the side of the road. Only one bathroom available, next closest is likely near the visitors center.

One of the coolest views on this hike. Lots of people belaying off the arch which was fun to watch. In total, this took me about 1.5 hours but I was definitely quick to come down.

Very steep rock stairs at beginning. Bring lots of water and sunscreen, it’s hot!! The arch is to the left when you get to the end of the trail. It’s beautiful!

Awesome hike! Steep going up and there are cairns near the top to find the best way. There were people repelling when we got to the top. You can definitely walk across the arch (it’s wider than it looks from far away.)

Fun trail with great views of different parts of the canyon. Steep for first 1/4 mile, then levels off. A lot of slickrock towards the end as you approach the arch. Definitely not a trail you want to do when its wet. Can easily lose your way towards the end so take your time and follow the cairns. The top of the arch looks narrower than it actually is. You might be hesitant to walk on top of arch but its not as narrow as it looks.

We too did the Grand Wash Trail before the Cassidy Arch Trail, & I agree wholeheartedly with Matty Mac! Wish we’d have done this first, as I would consider this more than a moderate trail, with a climb of 950 feet per the sign at the start of the trail. Not 702.... The hike itself is awesome when you consider the views! We rested at the top for a snack behind a small tree to get out of the sun. It was rather warm today. At the top, there were some people repelling down from a point near one side of the arch. That was really cool to watch!

Beautiful and fun trail with great views all throughout! There are some tricky steeper parts but watch your step and it should be fine. Relatively quiet, only saw few couples/groups and we were not that early (around 10am start). It took us about 2.5 hours but we stopped often to take pictures.

This was our best part of hiking in Capital Reef. Beautiful views of the arch at the end but be prepared the climb a few switchbacks to get there. These are mainly right at the start but well worth the effort. You can make your way to the top of the arch for a great picture if desired.
