Great drive through Capitol Reef State Park, the Waterpocket Fold is really cool to see with the lines that go between red and white rock layers of golden sandstone, canyons and striking rock formations. Among the cool sights are the Chimney Rock pillar and 3 mile hike, the Hickman Bridge arch, and Capitol Reef, known for its white sandstone domes. Amazing to see Fruita as a real oasis in the desert along with its famous barn and old schoolhouse. Definitely worth a side trip.

We drove through on the way from St. George to Moab. We wish we had more time to explore some of the many trails in the park. It's a beautiful drive. Keep in mind if you come out this way, there's not much in the way of gas stations, stores and restaurants... make sure you bring food, water and other things with you.

Beautiful drive. We made a few stops along the way and ate dinner at the picnic area at Capitol Gorge. We were lucky enough to be there while the sun was setting and the colors were absolutely gorgeous.

Beautiful scenic drive with a couple of trails to hike along the way. Great area to spend a few hours or the entire day. Be sure to bring a lot of water in the summer. For one of the only times in my life I ran out of water. I was lucky for me there had been a storm recently and there user puddles of water in the rocks. I was able to suck some water and was fortunate to not get sick.

The scenic drive takes through the core of Capitol Reef NP. Admission fee is required, but spend the day along the road doing hikes, picnicking and you will find it worth it.
