Very pretty. When I went it was super super rainy and we couldn’t hike so this was a great alternative.

Pretty and worthwhile drive to give the legs a rest, but not the most stunning scenery you'll see in the Southwest and possibly not worth the $30 price tag if you don't have an annual NPS Pass and aren't doing any hikes in that area

New Years Eve is a great day to visit this park. You nearly have it all to yourself.

Very cool drive. Don’t need a 4x4 to do it. I saw Prius’ driving it. Then a hike up the wash, but a good portion is in full sun. Went in late August and it was 100 degrees.

Awesome drive, reminded me of Monument Valley, except this road was in way better condition! If you have 1 day in Capitol Reef, make sure to do this drive!

Followed my husband in a car while he rode his cycle on the route. It took him about 2.5 hours, including about 20 min break inside the gorge (dirt road) taking photos. Went on a Sunday morning, starting at about 6:45 am. Only saw 3 other cars.

We've been through Capitol Reef twice in the past on the way to other national parks, but did not realize this scenic drive or the gorge drive existed. This is a national treasure. There's so much to see. It's just the tip of the iceberg! Do not miss this drive. The unpaved section can handle almost any type of vehicle. Be careful if it has rained, recently, though. We saw a cyclist here. This is on my bucket list! :) (It turns out that my previous review was for the main route 24 and not this road!)

I was unable to hike the day I arrived to Capitol Reef as there was a fair amount of rain that held on for a few hours, so I drive the scenic route. Beautiful views and a very neat drive through a gorge. I am planning on going back to hike this area.

Nice backroads car ride. There are very few towns on this route, and you really feel isolated in some areas (if not on this particular route, the way we got to it was quite open and desolate for many miles). Keep in mind that in low tourist seasons and/or on Sundays, most of the services on this road may be limited or closed. Fill up on gas whenever you can, in fact, fill up before entering this by way especially in the low season/Sundays/after 'normal business' hours. PS it turns out I was reviewing route 24 that is the main highway through the park and not the scenic road.

A short scenic drive, nice to be able to see some of the viewpoints if you are unable to hike the trails.

I love the scenic drive in Capitol Reef, there's some good views and it's short/not overcrowded.

This drive provides a great intro to the park and its vast diversity. Well worth the time. Be sure to continue past the gates on to the gravel road — that’s when it gets GOOD!!!

Great drive through Capitol Reef State Park, the Waterpocket Fold is really cool to see with the lines that go between red and white rock layers of golden sandstone, canyons and striking rock formations. Among the cool sights are the Chimney Rock pillar and 3 mile hike, the Hickman Bridge arch, and Capitol Reef, known for its white sandstone domes. Amazing to see Fruita as a real oasis in the desert along with its famous barn and old schoolhouse. Definitely worth a side trip.

We drove through on the way from St. George to Moab. We wish we had more time to explore some of the many trails in the park. It's a beautiful drive. Keep in mind if you come out this way, there's not much in the way of gas stations, stores and restaurants... make sure you bring food, water and other things with you.

Beautiful drive. We made a few stops along the way and ate dinner at the picnic area at Capitol Gorge. We were lucky enough to be there while the sun was setting and the colors were absolutely gorgeous.

Beautiful scenic drive with a couple of trails to hike along the way. Great area to spend a few hours or the entire day. Be sure to bring a lot of water in the summer. For one of the only times in my life I ran out of water. I was lucky for me there had been a storm recently and there user puddles of water in the rocks. I was able to suck some water and was fortunate to not get sick.

The scenic drive takes through the core of Capitol Reef NP. Admission fee is required, but spend the day along the road doing hikes, picnicking and you will find it worth it.
