Great local trail and perfect for a family ride. Lots of farm animals to visit along the way.

Not a ton of shade but easy. Lots of sticks for kiddos to pick up. Gravel trail. Some of the gates were closed.

A few tips: make sure you start your hike on the right (south) side of the auto shop. You’ll pass around a gate and some signs about private property, but stay on the gravel trail and you’ll be fine. Next you’ll pass a sign that indicates the Powerline Trail is ahead and keep climbing uphill. Once you’ve made the initial climb, there’s another sign pointing you toward a connection to the Bonneville Shoreline trail, but to get to the canal just continue north on the gravel road. After that initial climb, the trail is pretty flat and travels right next to the canal for the duration. It’s an excellent spot for a walk or trail run, but it is completely exposed so bring water and sun protection.

Beautiful, easy trail for walking, running or cycling. The beginning is a little dubious as it starts out next to a mechanic shop and you have to step past some ominous looking no trespassing signs (meant for motor vehicles.) Once you get up into the foothills it's very beautiful and you'll see other runners and dog walkers out enjoying the trail. Gorgeous views of the valley, mountains, and even a little waterfall up above on another trail.

Okay maybe 5 is overdoing it — but this is a really gentle easy walk that has nearly no traffic. It is a utility road along a canal — gravity fed by Pine View Reservoir. There are lots of butterflies, dragonflies, and lizards along the trail — in addition to wildflowers. I really enjoy this hike when I can’t make enough time for Waterfall Canyon!
