Getting There

A short pleasant hike through the sand and sage of Arches NP This is a pleasant hike through the basin between sandstone upthrusts to another of Arches NP's pretty arches. This Arch can also be reached from the Devils Garden campground. Good views of the surrounding upthrusts of sandstone and of the desert flora and fauna.

Rated easy and overall it is however much of the trail is scrambling up and down rocks so I would be cautious about taking anyone older, injured or out of shape. It’s hot. Bring more water than you think you need. Absolutely breathtakingly beautiful.

HikingGreat!

Did this as a loop with sand dune arch and tapestry arch. We climbed through the arch (as the sign said to), which was a fun part of the adventure. There was afternoon shade on the further side of the arch and it made for a great resting spot. Not sure why it’s called broken arch, because it looked connected to me, but very beautiful!

If you go after 10 am, bring your water bottle even though this is a short walk. Little shade.

Did this in a loop with Sand Dune Arch and Tapestry Arch. Never got strenuous but there was quite a bit of walking through sand.

Beautiful, easy, relaxing trail. I wouldn’t recommend doing it in midday heat as there isn’t much coverage, but it’s an absolutely gorgeous early morning or sunset hike. If you get there before sunrise, the light reflects perfectly on Broken Arch to give you incredible orange-vermillion-red colors over the course of just a few minutes. Stunning!

Nice hike it does require a little climbing on boulders. Beautiful arch though. We recommend doing the loop that includes sands arch and tapestry arch.

For fun, my son and I did this and Sand Dune Arch at night, with no moon, and no lights. Makes an easy hike more of a challenge! Gets confusing in the dark near Delicate Arch, though. When you get near people have made a dozen trails off the main, and they're hard to distinguish in the dark.

We did it right after Sand Dune trail. It was about 7:30 and there was no one else on the trail. My eight year old came across a snake crossing the path so heads up if you are one of the first on the trail. We aren’t seasoned hikers so a bit of a scare but just keep your eyes looking ahead. We thought we could could continue the loop to Tapestry but with no one else around, we weren’t sure if we were going off trail or actually on the trail. With it being 8:30 and feeling the heat rising, we decided not to risk finding ourselves lost off-trail and just tracked back the way we came. Very easy light walk.

Fantastic trail early in the day...we had it all to ourselves on a Monday morning in early June. There were more people coming as we finished though. No challenges here...our 4 kids (15, 12, 9, 4) all managed it with ease. Be sure to climb through the arch for more great views! This was one of our favorites!

We looped together three arches - Sand Dune, Broken and Tapestry. Very scenic hike across sand and rock. Don’t underestimate the amount of water you will need on a summer day!

Great hike, lots to see. The trail is well marked. All Trails had the start in the camping grounds. The Rangers were only letting residents drive in. I started at Sand Dune Arch parking area. It has a trail that links as well as all the signage to support this hike. Recommend to move All Trails start point.

A pleasant hike that's really convenient if you're staying in the Devil's Garden campground. Leave it for later in the day or do it early in the morning if you're doing it in summer to avoid the worst of the heat. Definitely worth the effort.

sand dune arch shares a parking lot with broken arch. sand dune arch is cool. broken arch is just another arch. it has a good view from the back end but don't continue down that trail to tapestry arch. unless you want to. then you should. but the trail is poorly marked so don't get lost.

We continued on to from sand dune, which made it long enough to bring water and a snack. The varied terrain is worth all 5 stars, the ability to do portions is worthy of note. I am not sure if I ever actually saw broken arch. I think I did, but it didn't look broken to me...
