Beautiful scenery!!! One of the most majestic places we’ve seen. I recommend driving back until you actually see the Black Dragon Wash sign. We were the only ones in the trail but it was midweek. Our dogs loved it too!

This trail is prominently featured on several "adventure guides" and trail maps of the swell, so my expectations were high but I have to say I was disappointed. First, it is not lightly trafficked. There were ATVS sharing the trail which is an actual dirt road, as well as plenty of other hikers. Most disappointing, the pictographs are so heavily vandalized it was difficult to see them at all. I made it about two miles up the trail before turning back. All that said, if you're not an experienced hiker, this is an easy trail to start out on, family friendly. The views of the canyon walls are nice, typical of the swell and reef areas. If you're nearby and pressed for time, maybe give it a go? Otherwise, there are plenty of better hikes all over the area. Sorry to be a downer!

Not lightly trafficked as described. At least 50 camping and lots of traffic. Hopefully that’s because it was Memorial Day weekend so not typical because all that made it noisy and dusty.

Lamest hike I’ve experienced in Utah. So many ATVs blaring by, pumping music and making lewd noises, it was the antithesis of what I seek in a hike. The heavy wind didn’t help either. My advice- see the pictographs then scoot!

The itself is pretty but nothing to be overly amazed at, the pictographs are right at the beginning so if that’s all you’re hiking for feel no need to carry on.

There are plenty of spots to camp. The hike is easy and the payoff at the Black Dragon mural is great. Don’t be one of those imbeciles who deface Native American art!

Easy family hike. We drove up a little ways then parked and walked the canyon. Easy enough for you 2 1/2 year old to walk it. Walked about half of it and was good!

This trail was easy to get to in a truck, had beautiful desert flowers blooming, and gorgeous pictographs. It was easy to hike, but we didn’t do the whole thing. I highly recommend. We were there in the spring.

Keep to the left driving in to the trail. Drove until we felt uncomfortable with a minivan, saw a Subaru drive the trail. Nice hike, most sun but offers some shaded areas. Good petroglyph viewing.

Scenic driving

Great drive - easy in the beginning - much tougher as you go - 4wd high clearance - only after 2.0 mile mark. We drove the trail east to west ( 2.2 miles west of SR 24 off I-70 north side to Jackass Benches, Sinkhole Flat, ext 129 on I-70) Very hot, dry, but very beautiful views!
