From St George, head north on I-15 for about 13 miles and take exit 22 to Leeds/Silver Reef. Head north on Hwy 228/Main Street for 2 miles and take a right onto 900 North (there is a sign indicating Red Cliffs National Conservation Area). Follow 900 North for about 3 miles and turn left after the sign indicating Sand Cove Trailhead.

Not easy to find the arch as signs are limited and the trails not too obvious. Start early in day if heat!!

We chose this trail because it was dog friendly, however going during daytime in August was a stupid mistake. We made it to the river and was able to cool down briefly but going back climbing the sand dunes was brutal. The trail marks were hard to find and very confusing and almost no shaded areas, thank goodness for this app to guide us through. Not for beginner hikers like us. If it were a cooler time of the year, maybe we would have had a different experience. I think it’s a beautiful fun trail if you chose the right season, but we will never go back.

Beautiful but brutally hot in July! The climb up the dunes (if you take that route) is really tough. Plan to get lots of sand in your shoes. Wear clothes you can sit in the stream in at the bottom. Must use the app to stay on this unmarked trail. Glad we did it but won't again

The road leading to the trail is very rough and some parts are just loose soft sand. The trail itself is very poorly marked and very easy to get off course. Look for the stacked rocks along the path to help you! Good workout and some good pictures but I probably wouldn't do this hike again.

Great views. Literally no one else there. We went in June and it was awful hot so bring plenty of water. The arch is pretty small but a good spot for a picnic lunch. Very sandy and the road to the trailhead is dirt and tough for our rental minivan.

Sandy, about 4 miles, and just stay on the arch trail, and arch is NOT at the end of the red dot but about 80% into the trail.

Great hike! Arch is not on the red dot as we thought toward the end. Its 3/4 on west part of the trail ( before water ). We took the east trail got off trail even with app, still beautiful. There are signs on the arch trail on the way back we took, pretty steep, very fun. bring water! we saw people who didnt. took us 4 hours but that was off trail and many many breaks- had kids with us.

Beautiful views! Didn’t get to pay too much attention to them cause you have to follow the gps pretty much the whole time. Hard to follow the trail and not many signs telling you were to go.

Take the outlined route to the west on the decent if you want to avoid climbing a very steep sandy hill.

What an unexpected surprise! Beautiful hike with many different views. Definitely need your wayfinding to stay on trail but that was part of the challenge. Using this app was super helpful. Recommend highly.

I drove the road in a low carriage vehicle and did just fine. Just have to drive slow and careful in a few spots. Got off trail several times but used app to get back on track. It is only an hour each way even with stops to refresh and take pics. Unique views and wonderful formations. Best on a week day!

As others have said, the trail takes some guessing. I followed a linked map off this app. Once you find the Carins, stay to the right of them. At the steep downhill sand dune the right side will take you straight under the free standing arch. The arch isn't the one one in the sandstone wall, but a free standing arch off the wall roughly east. Hot day!

WARNING: The almost 2 mile drive to the trailhead is unimproved road with many deep ruts and holes. Don’t even attempt to drive it with a low carriage vehicle. The tail itself was a challenge to find after leaving the parking lot, so thank goodness for this app. Very rocky terrain and steep sandy descents made the hike that much longer. Plan on giving yourself at least half a day to go all the way to the river and back. We only made it to the arch and decided to forego the remainder of the trail.
