Nice trail and less crowded than most of the other short hikes nearby. A brief scramble to reach the top of the Butte.

Awesome hike. Definitely pretty challenging at points, but it’s not long. Beautiful views in all directions at the top.

Fun trail with some easy walking and some scrambling up the side to get on top of the butte. Don’t miss the hidden granaries! Completed in May 2019.

Loved this trail. It was my favorite part of our visit to Canyonlands. Loved the hike up the side of the butte to the top. Don't forget to drop down onto the ledge on the east side of the butte. There are some little shady alcove things that are so isolated yet so easy to access. Magnificent view of the canyons from there. I noticed that so many others overlooked it and moved on without dropping down onto that ledge. Also, don't forget the granaries. So peaceful and nice.

You have to climb the rocks especially at the end but the 360 degrees view you get at the top is awesome

Awesome little trail. Well marked. Great views from Aztec Butte, interesting structure. Make sure you add the smaller butte you passed to your hike. Interesting Puebloan graineries.

Really fun trail and not too long. Personally, I think the hike should be named the Granaries Trail because that was the really cool feature to me and I mistakenly thought the granaries were located on Aztec Butte. There is a rock structure on Aztec Butte and it's worth climbing but the granaries were on the side trail. I would definitely recommend this trail.

We went today and this was a super fun hike with big kids. Lots of scrambling on the rocks and fun to climb to the top of the Butte and get 360 degree views! Make sure to take the side trail to the granaries as well—very cool! Only took about an hour total.

Great short Canyonlands hike. Some scrabbling is required on the rocks at the top, and it is worth it as the views are amazing.

The day we hiked was hazy which impacted the view from the top of the butte. The hike on the butte up the slick rock was fun and somewhat challenging with several cairns to guide you.

Takes a little bit of scrambling at the top which made it more fun. Views aren't amazing, but definitely worth the hike.

My absolute favorite hike in Canyonlands! The last part of the hike is a scramble up massive rock formations to the top of the Butte. The top is really open allowing for incredible views of the canyon, rocks, and mountains. Not kid friendly due to the difficulty, nice that it was less crowded than other hikes!

Hiked this trail on 4/23/19. Perfect weather (60s, cool breeze but hot sun) for this no-shade short hike around the buttes. The first butte has a quick scramble up to the top, then a short walk to the grain pantry sign. The entrance to the pantry is down a little, narrow, rocky gouge. Look for the carin to the right of the trail. I didn’t expect it to be down that way, but it is. When you get to the bottom, you can see the pantries set back in a ledge. To get to the you basically have to hug the rock and scoot using your shoes as brakes to avoid slipping. This is a very precarious position and super grippy shoes are essential. Do NOT traverse the ledge if it is not 100% dry. Not recommended for young kids, obviously. It was nice to sit back in the ledge near the cubby holes and imagine what it was like for the ancestral people to build these food stores and use them as a way of preservation. So cool! A must hike!

I wasn't expecting much, but this was actually one of my favorite trails! After a short hike to the base of the butte, the trail takes you up the fairly steep butte to the top. Getting to the top takes a little bit of scrambling, especially at the very top, but it is well worth it. On top of the butte, there are some fantastic views on both sides. To the south is mostly flat grassland type terrain. To the north is an amazing view of a canyon. Make sure to do the whole loop around the top to see everything. Additionally, there is a second small butte that has two small Native American granaries. All in all, very cool hike that I highly recommend.
