Directions from Salt Lake City: Follow Little Cottonwood Canyon road approximately 7.9 miles from the mouth of the canyon to the Alta Guard Station. The trail begins on the east side of the Forest Service garage.

You get the picture pretty quickly why this trail is marked as "hard." Immediate incline, mid-way had some flatter spots but then you scramble up a bunch of loose rocks towards the end. Didn't get to the lakes, hailstorm made us turn around. Good workout. Wildflowers on pretty much 100% of the trail right now. Beautiful!

Trail follows a dirt road up to Twin Lakes Pass. Stunning view Twin Lakes from pass. Hiked the entire trail from Alta to Brighton.
