WWII Gun Placements is a 0.2 mile lightly trafficked loop trail located near Port Aransas, Texas that offers scenic views and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for walking and is accessible year-round.
November 23, 2020Short trail that leads to a historical site in the dunes. The trail is easy to manage, but be aware that the sand is deep in places and we got several burrs in our socks. It's worth the effort to climb the dunes and see this.

First to ReviewThis is a short hike up and down steep and sandy dunes. You will encounter two sets of ruins from a World War II gun placement (think Howitzers). The guns were placed on the dunes to protect nearby oil storage tanks from possible attack by Nazi submarines.
